Middelburg

How to get to Middleburg from Switzerland?

What will the best way to get to Middelburg from Switzerland?

I have tried to look for budget flight to join from Zurich to Rotterdam but there is no flights offering that.

I am more interested in a rail journey but how can we arrange this?

If any one has better alternative, please include the mode of transportation plus the cost involved.

Many thanks,

Khairul Asyraf

You can travel from anywhere to anywhere in Europe by train, as long as both places have railway stations. You can find almost all European train times and details in English on the excellent bahn.de:

bahn.com/i/view/overseas/en/...

but for fares other than those for/from Germany you must look at the official country railway website for each country.

Train travel in Europe is safe, comfortable enough and can be very reasonably-priced (depends on country, to some extent, and on type of train).

You can also find train times, details and fares (and book your tickets, if you wish) in English on the Swiss railway website:

http://www.sbb.ch/en/home.html

Switzerland is a large country, but as an example:

Zurich>Middelburg takes from 9.5 hours, with several changes of train. One-way far for tomorrow is from 210 euro. Not all departures are bookable online in advance.

It might be quicker, and possibly cheaper, to fly Zurich>Amsterdam and then take the train to Middelburg. Amsterdam airport has a railway station at its terminal

Netherlands train times, details, fares in English:

http://www.ns.nl/en/travellers/home

www.skyscanner.net will give you all carriers (and usually fares) for your route and dates.

A further alternative is to take long-distance buses. They are often cheaper than trains but take longer. You could, for example, take a bus Zurich>Rotterdam, but the service does not run every day. Info in English here:

Transavia offers flights from Zurich to Eindhoven; check http://www.transavia.com/
I think that is a good option for you. The train ride from Eindhoven to Middelburg is about 2 hours.

Transavia also offers flights from Friedrichshafen to Rotterdam; check http://www.transavia.com/
The train ride from Rotterdam is about one and a half hours.

The bus/train rides in Holland are about 25 to 30 Euro's.

For both Eindhoven and Rotterdam you need to take the bus to the local train station.

You could travel by CityNightline night train from Z├╝rich or Basel to Arnhem, and by domestic train after that (I've don that myself). The night train can be had quite cheaply if booked in advance. For the remainder just buy tickets locally.

BTW, do you already have accommodation in Middelburg? I once stayed there at a very nice bed & breakfast, see [original VT link]
