hey...i am planning to go to maun this december and i was just wondering about the activities such as boat cruising, game drives, the nightlife etc and how much they cost...
Simple answer - they're all hellish expensive!
Why is particular are you going to Maun - rather than one of the camps in the Okavango, which are the more obvious destinations from which you can undertake all these activities?
Maun is the gateway to the Okavango - and most of the camps can only be accessed by air - the vast majority of visitors choose packages that include both (usually involving flights from either Johannesburg or Gaborone). Maun can also be used to access Moremi and Savuti (which may be where you're headed?) which do have vehicle access, but much less in the way of water-related activities. These are more affordable options if you've already got your own vehicle as you cut out the airfare component.
Bear in mind that whatever national park you visit in Botswana, the park fees are extortionate, especially for foreigners. The Government's tourism policy is 'low volume, high value' and this is what usually makes Botswana seem so much more expensive that similar destinations in other countries.
Sorry, have never stayed overnight in Maun, so can't comment on nightlife.
Hope that helps.
