Sabah

Anyone have any recommendations for a quiet beachfront hotel with some snorkeling in Sabah early March. Maybe an island "resort", just want somewhere quiet to relax for a few days. I would consider anywhere else, within a couple of hour's flight from KL, as long as it is quiet, beachfront, clear water, and unorganised snorkeling. Thanks people. Have a great day. Frank

I have been to Sipadan-Kapalai, I think it is very quiet and beautiful. You can take a Airasia flight to Tawau, then use resort transport or hire a taxi to Semporna, take a ferry to the resort. It is built in the middle of a ocean. You can have unlimited snorkeling around the resort without any problem. It is one of the most beautiful places in Malaysia.

Other resort in Semporna including Mabul Island Resort, Pompom Island Resort, and Mataking Island.

Useful websites: sipadan-kapalai.com/index.ht... http://www.sipadan-mabul.com.my/ http://www.sipadan-resort.com/ http://www.mataking.com/ver2/index.php http://www.pompomisland.com/

Hope this will give u some idea!

I spent a great few days at Manana Borneo Resort in July last year. About an hour's drive from Kota Kinabalu - they will pick you up from KK - very relaxed, very quiet, basic accommodation but very friendly. Have a look at their website www.manana-borneo.com Some decent snorkelling just near their 'private' beach.

Hi,

Try the Kota Kinabalu area in east Malaysia, it is a very beautiful city - there are plenty of hotels that arrange apt transfers on arrival at a reasonable cost, - very relaxed, very quiet. There are decent snorkeling near their 'private' beaches. There are many leisure spots and conservation areas around KK. There is one waterfront entertainment spot in the city centre which features restaurants, cafes, pubs, and a nightclub. Most of the major hotels in KK have travel desks and there are various offices around the city as well.

Hello,

We just spent a five romantic holiday in Langkawi Island, which is one hour's flight from KL via Air Asia. We stayed at the Danna, a recently built 5 star hotel on the beach. We highly recommend it.

I do know Langkawi is nice, you're right to be enthusiastic, but imho Sabah is much better.

Anyway there are some logistic .. kota-kinabalu is 2 and half hours flight from Kuala Lumpur, then an other plane should be taken for 1 hour flight, adding other 2+2 hours before both flights plus transfers, it goes almost one day for transfers, flights, lines at check-in, claim luggage/gates and in Sabah also for passport control.
