Madrid

Looking for one month apartment rental

Where would people recommend looking for a Madrid apartment for August in the summer? Trying to find a nice apartment (does not need to be huge) for 2 people from where we can experience Spanish life for a full month, just to get a real taste of Madrid. Budget about 800 max for the month.

Thanks!

We have recently discovered "house-trip", we have booked in Berlin with them, but we saw they have very interesting apartments in Madrid and most european cities. I am not sure if it is high season or low season during summer time in Madrid...locals go away because of the hot weather, but probably many tourist will go too. Have fun

Thanks for the tip. That's pretty similar to Airbnb which I have already used a few times. I just thought that most of those holiday rental sites seem to use the per day rate as a basis, rather than focusing on a whole month.

You might want to just contact the landlord to see if you can get a break for a whole month. You may be able to get a month for the cost of 3 weeks. Besides HouseTrio, try Homelidays.com, VRBO.com ownersdirect, comand Roomorama.com

You may want to contact El Busco del Tiempo (http://www.enbuscadeltiempo.com). The daily rates are higher but I am sure if you took a room for a month they would give you a reasonable deal. One of the rooms was a fairly large two room apartment complete with refridgerator and stove. Overlooked a fun area in Madrid just SE of Sol.

The plans for the summer holidays were put on ice for a little while. We got married in the meantime and had a grrrreat honeymoon on the Maldives and Sri Lanka. Plan for the summer changed a little bit, but still looking for the perfect apartment, now for July.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

And we're looking for a place for just the two of us. Because of the heat I think it would be nice to get a place that has (access to) a pool, might have to stretch the budget a little for that.

Thanks to everybody for the input. I had a look on all the sites mentioned and am now on the verge of booking an apartment through AirbBnB, a lot of the places there have rates per week/month as well, rather than just per night.

Once again, thanks VT!

It's all booked through Airbnb, we're staying in a modern apartment with balcony and swimming pool within easy reach of the city. Thanks again for the assistance.

It is in Arganzuela and we're paying 1200 for the month.

I didn't realise it would be that warm in Madrid so a pool became necessary to cool down in. We're willing to pay that bit extra for it. I couldn't find another place that fulfilled my requirements (balcony/outdoor area to have breakfast on and a swimming pool for cooling down) that was pretty close to the centre at this price. More expensive is easy to find.

Could you send me one or two places that would be better value for money?

A pool in Madrid in the summer is almost a requirement of mine when I visit. One of the reasons I pay a little more and stay at the Emperador off of Gran Via.

It seems to be a nice hotel but it would mean shelling out nearly 2600 for the month. The hotel is in a great location but we'd have no kitchen at our disposal, nor space for possible guests.

Anyway, I'm happy with our choice and I literally looked at hundreds of options.
