Do you think somebody with a serious fear of the height could have problems in visiting Machu Pichu?
I was wondering if there is a company that caters for solo travellers from the uk that wouldn`t cost the earth, to visit machu picchu,it seems a bit difficult to do on my own, flights and hotel i can manage,or is there any fellow brits planning a trip for next year who would welcome a companion?
I've booked trains and hotel to spend 2 nights at Aguas Caliente. But buying tickets for entrance to Mp worked not so good. I have 2 tickets for the first day to MP+Mountain, but booking for MP+HP for the second day was denied - overbooking. Its weird, because site still shows 31 ticket available for my date.
So can anybody suggest what can I do on the second day (my train is rather late).
Is it any chance that I'll buy tickets on the site day before?
Can we hike by ourselves near Aguas Caliente? Are there other places of interest except MP?
June 2015 I bought from a vendor's stall near end of what I believe is called the Aguas Calientes market just after leaving the gate of Machu Picchu. I bought two silver and blue rings and wanted to buy a matching bracelet but my family dissuaded me. How can I get in touch with the vendor (two or three women were working in the stall at that time)
I'm travelling with a small tour group to MP in middle of March 2016. We fly to Cuzco where we spend time visiting ruins etc. two days before we take the train to the Sacred Valley. Reading all the tips on what to take I'm thinking I'm going to need a bigger back pack! I'm not a young person any more. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I was wondering without doing any of the 2 mountain hikes, how does one get to the main viewpoint with the ruins in the background? What direction do I take? Is it close by to the Machu Picchu entrance or do I go up some trail? As much detail as possible if possible.
When is the quietest time of year to visit Machu Picchu. I don't do busy and queues. Ta

How far is the museum inside MP from the gate where people go in to MP?
Planning on staying in cusco for 3 nights and want to do the day trip to MP. Seen online that its advisable to buy tickets prior to arrival, however just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of wheres best to purchase from? Ive looked online but its difficult to gage which websites are legitimate. would like to do MP and hyuana too, so can anyone advise a package deal or how best to go about organising this. Also any experiences of inca or peru rail and which one to book with? Many thanks, Rachel
I am travelling round Peru inc walking the last part of the trek up to Machu Picchu so wondering what footwear is best. I am then moving to a small boat for a trip round the Galapagos and again wondering about footwear. I will be using a rucksack. Would full walking boots be best or lighter walking shoes or walking sandals.
re boat would it be wise to take canvas shoes which can get wet then walk round the various islands.
Planning on visiting cusco and doing the day trip to MP next month, however I have noted that the weather is likely to be wet. Has anyone had experience of MP in this weather? I am anxious of spending the money to go to see the amazing MP but being disappointed by poor visibility and being unable to take good photographs for the memory.
Thank you in advance
Investigating possible trip to mp in July and read it's advisable to buy your tickets to get into mp a day or so prior--we would be in Cuzco and I saw a reference to the ticket office. I was then looking at pix of mp in general and saw a reference that you must have a guide inside the grounds. So, question, is there a chance the tickets to mp could sell out? Do I need a guide to go in with us? We aren't wanting to do a trek, just enter mp. Thanks!
What type of pants and shoes are good for women? We are staying in hotel, not much hiking.
What would be best kind of pants and shoes for woman? Staying in hotel, not hiking.
How difficult is it to tour this place? I will be joining a 48 hours land tour while in a SA cruise. I have a lower back & minor knee problem. Should I completely avoid this once in a lifetime tour. I do 30 minutes walks every two days but am not sure if my body can handle such a "steep" climb. Any information, recommendation, feedback will be greatly appreciated.I am determined to visit & see this wonder and didn't mind paying a lot for this tour.
Also, I hear from others that have been there that the high altitude may also pose a problem particularly for those w/some breathing problem..feedback please. Thank you
any VT mbrs heard/used Virgin Vacation to Lima (cusco, etc)?
I will be arriving at the Cusco airport on a Tuesday. My goal is to get to Machu Picchu the next day on Wednesday. Currently, trains are not running all the way from Cusco to Machu, you have to take a bus to Ollantaytambo or Urubamba and then a train to Machu. I would prefer to arrive in Machu around 10AM and depart around 10AM.
Here are my questions:
What is the best way to get from the airport to Ollantaytambo or Urubamba? Taxi, bus? Cost?
On arrival day I can stay in Cusco, Urubamba or Ollantaytambo, which one would you choose and why?
planning to stay in cuzco for 4 days (1 day in MP) to acclimate (only if necessary), pls advise places/things to do in and around cuzco for 3 days; also,

Going to Machu Picchu mid March 2015. With only 1/2 day to explore I would appreciate any advice on how to see and photograph as much as possible (bearing in mind I will only have been in the country 24 hours). Is there a good route once through the gate? Anything extra I can see with the time I have? Thank you so much folks!
what to do before going. what to pack to alleviate altitude sickness in Machu Picchu. No time to acclimatize as the trip will be a quickie.
Are hiking boots needed when visiting the Machu Picchu ruins in September if one is not climbing the mountains there? Are good athletic shoes with thick soles adequate?
Do you need walking sticks for a one day trip into macho picchu and can you take your personal one?
