Hello. We are traveling to the Andre Rieu concert in July. Flying from Dublin with Ryanair.
Our accommodation is close to Vrijthof Square. Is there a bus we can travel on from the airport that will bring us close to the Vrijthof?
Best regards, Vera Hussey
You'll find the necessary info here - maa.nl/en-us/passengers/prep...
The Rijthof square is about ten minutes walk from the bus/rail station but if laden with luggage a taxi should cost about 8 Euros.
There is a bus to and from Maastricht Airport that stops at the train stations in Maastricht.
Assuming you are arriving at Maastricht Airport, that is...
From the main train station in Maastricht it is a delightful walk to Vrijthof but I assume you have luggage.
So this is what you do: visit our public transportation website http://9292.nl/en
Put in 'Maastricht Airport' as departure and 'Vrijthof Maastricht' (not Vleuten!!) as arrival.
You find you have choices.
The quickest (29 minutes) is bus 59 to station Meerssen, train to station Maastricht, bus 9 to Vrijthof.
The easiest (though 9 minutes longer) is taking bus 59 from the Airport to Maastricht station, take bus 6 to Vrijthof.
Good luck and enjoy Rieu!
Hmm, John, I've walked that route often... it's a bit longer... 2 kms from station to Vrijthof will take about 20-25 minutes (more with luggage).
It only takes me 10 minutes but I walk fast and travel light.
You have to the take first of bus n. 59 ( Maastricht railway station) and then the bus n. 6 and stop at Mosae Forum/Centrum...then you have to walk but it does not take more than 5 minutes!
PS: from the railway station it does not take 20-25 minutes, unless it's Saturday afternoon, when the city is crowded by shoppers! :-) Normally 10-15 minutes is enough! :-)
Thanks to all for your very helpful information. We are quick walkers with light luggage so we will enjoy our walk into Vrijthof! Unless the weather is bad!
All the best,
yeah and it's nice the boulevard from the station, crossing the old bridge and then walking through Grote Straat in the centre! :-) Enjoy it! :-)
