My husband and I are thinking of moving to louisville - we like the look of the old louisville area but we don't really know much about the place.
Could any residents give us advice on where to live? If the old louisville is safe?
Also, in terms of race relations, is the area pretty tolerant? forgive me for sounding naive but my husband is middle eastern descent and we are wanting a place that's pretty tolerant.
We are going to leave the husbands home and have a girls getaway in early Nov. Looking for a gorgeous quaint or elegant B and B with amazing food... I hear 4th Street is a great place so walking distance. A claweek foot tub or great tub would be nice. Any suggestions? ?

I have a friend visiting from out of town who is a vibrant 61 year old but I just don't know where to take her. She is sort of conservative but I wanted to take her some place nice with nice jazz or R & B music and that serves food. Where in Louisville can we go on the eastside or Frankfort Ave. area?
We are planning to spend two nights in Louisville has part of a road trip in May, can anyone give me any advice on areas to stay? Also any recommendation's on hotels? We are looking for something 3 or 4 start ideally.
I am looking for activities for 14-18 year olds coming for the FFA National Convention. I was wondering if anyone knew of any farms around the area that give tours. I am looking to go to the Louisville Slugger Museum, and would like suggestions of other places to go. I saw some info for the Louisville Mega Cavern and would like to know opinions on this activity. This is an activity day for November 1, 2013.
In town on business, best area of town in Louisville to dine and have a few cocktails for two young professional 30 somethings? Thanks!
A friend and I will be passing through Louisville in early January. We won't have much time - an overnight with a good part of the day on either side. Looking for recommendations for a cool motel/hotel/hostel and a fun neighborhood to stroll around in. What we're not: shoppers, clubbers, or sight see-ers. Tips for a reasonable restaurant with good libations are welcome. We won't have much time, so we're not trying to do and see everything, just want to bum around and get and get an impression of the place, meet the friendly locals. :)
Seems like they've been revamping this tour recently, so I don't know what I'd get if we stopped. We have two smaller kids, and if there is still a self-guided tour around the grounds, I'd stop to let the family stretch their legs. If it is still "hustle into a room to watch a video" or a full blown tour only, I'll give this one a pass. Can anyone give me insight into what I could truly expect? Thanks!
We are planning for a trip to Louisville, KY from Charlotte, NC. Currently we want to see Cumberland Falls, Mamoth Caves and Louisville downtown attractions. Can you please suggest specific attractions in Louisville and around as well as enroute. We plan to go during July 4th long weekend, can you please let me know if I will face heavy traffic rush this route.

We will be visiting Louisville for a couple of days after the 4th of July. Our two daughters will be with us (ages 8 & 5). We're going to try & hit Churchill Downs for the closing day of the season on 7/5, but other than that, we aren't sure what else to see, or what areas to stay in. I'd appreciate any advice on:
Other kids friendly places to visit
What areas to visit and/or avoid
Kid Friendly Restaurants
Also, is the Louisville Slugger factory tour good for kids? My wife thinks they'd be bored there.

I'm going in April to visit Cave Hill Cemetery and the artsy areas - can anyone suggest a place to stay that would be within walking distance of the cemetery?
Also, I'd like a non-chain restaurant suggestion. Nothing too fussy or formal; I liked Artemisia when I was in L-ville in 2003. And the Paradise Cafe rocks!
Going to Louisville for the first time in a couple of weeks for Thunder Over Louisville.
We are staying at the Hyatt downtown and I had several questions all of which relate to Thunder.
Where to see fireworks and air show?
1) Is there a "best" place to see the fireworks and air show? If yes, where?
2) Would the Hyatt be an o.k. place to see the air show but not fireworks?
Riverfront park question.
1) Would you advise getting down to the park at opening (6AM) to save a place or is that a waste of time?
I booked the hotel downtown so we wouldn't have to drive afterward so if you would consider that when responding it would be appreciated.
My brother has just invited me to attend a black tie affair in Louisville next weekend. I will arrive somewhat early Saturday and be leaving mid-afternoon Sunday. I am passing through Louisville to go to New Orleans and I will stay there one night. What would be the cheapest way to stay only one night over there? I checked Bed and breakfasts and the price is too much. I couldn't find anything less that 65$ per night. I appreciate any advice :) Here, there are some families who accepts guests in very low price for few days and they advertise in the local news paper. Is there something like this over there?
I am heading to Louisville for a convention and will be staying downtown - any advise on things to do?

Hi, Would anyone out there have a website for grade schools located in Louisville¿ One of my closest cousin is moving from London to Louisville this year. They have 3 young school children, ages 9, 8 and 4 years old. The husband was just hired as a CEO of a super big corporation, and they have not yet found a most recomendable school for the children. Also, having come & having sold their home in UK would anyone recommend a high standard of living areas in Louisville¿ Any good comment or suggestions from Louisville would greately be appreciated. Cheers to all.
