is first week of april too early to see tulip fields? can any one from that region help me? please tell me the current status.
It's getting warmer next week, the tulips need another 2 weeks to florish, so the frist week of April will be promising.
MMm it sound a bit early PJ. I drove passed a field in the Beemster yesterday and the first green tips just arrived from the earth.
Maybe some early varieties will be in bloom.
The Keukenhof wil for sure have tulips in bloom, they are specially grown. That will open it doors on March 24th.
During the short period (about 2 months) that Keukenhof is open you may be assured that there is always a great deal in bloom from day one (March 24). They plan the hundreds of flower species to bloom at different times over these 8 weeks.
The flower parade is on April 16th.
Best time to visit the 'real' tulip fields is late April/early May.
I'll take a picture when my tulips florish and put in at my home page.
I can hear them grow right now.
The "krokussen" almost got out today!

It'll only be more and more. April and early May is the period.
The tulip fields are an industry. Not something left to chance. You can be sure of plenty of blooms!
The blooms are closely monitored at Keukenhof. Watch the calendar:
