Hi. I am planning to rent and drive a car when I head to Jeju. Does anyone know the average gas/petrol rates on the island? Is it better to drive, hire a taxi or take public transport on Jeju?
Please advise. Thanks!!
Gasoline is about 1400 KRW per liter. LPG is is about 800 KRW per liter.
Jeju is one of the few places in Korea where you can rent scooters. Since you don't say when you will be visiting, if you believe the weather is cooperative for you, a scooter is a much cheaper and flexible option than renting a car.
Personally speaking, if you are trying to put a lot of things into a short trip, having a car will give you more flexibility. Otherwise the public transport (buses and taxis) are cheap and readily available in Korea. For example, you can rent a car (excluding gasoline) for the same price as three 20-minute taxi rides. Buses will be even cheaper.
