I am planning my driving route from Cesme to Seluck/Ephesus and saw a shorter route on the highway that passes around Izmir and a longer route that follows the coast for some part. Is the coastal route scenic enough to account for a 40 min longer drive? And what are the coastal roads like? Thanks
any budget hotels in Izmir please?
Does anyone know where or if our no impedement of mariage papers from uk need to be translated if we marry in turkey.
We plan to travel in late june. And have been told to go to the british consulate in Izmir for our papers to get translated? Having just received an e-mail from someone who lives out there, said that if we go to the turkish consulate we dont pay?
We are planning our arrangements by ourselves and would greatly appreciate any help or information anyone has.

I'm looking for budget accommodation in Izmir. Preferably near the 9 Eylul Universitesi Hastanesi.
Any ideas? It could be a furnished flat / room, or a B&B ... anything??
I'll be in Istanbul in July, and I managed to book a return flight to Izmir for the day, so that I camn visit Ephesus. My flight arrives at Izmir early in the morning and departs late at night, so I'll have the whole day to find my way from Izmir to Ephesus.
My question is, what is the easiest/fastest way to travel between Izmir airport-Izmir-Ephesus, and back? Ideally, I would also like to spend a short time in Izmir, but, if that is too much, Ephesus comes first!
Is it true that the train between Izmir airport-Izmir-Selcuk is not running right now because of maintenance work? Are there any buses instead, from Izmir airport to Izmir and then to Ephesus?
I'm trying to avoid renting a car!
Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated!
My girlfriend and I (in our 20s) will be traveling to the area in late April/early May. We will be flying into either Dalaman or Izmir and are trying to figure the best way to get around. I was thinking of hiring a car since our time is very limited (four full days) and would like to spend a couple of days at the beach and a couple exploring areas around Izmir. My girlfriend really wants to visit Olu Deniz and we are looking to paraglide so I figure the beaches around this area would be our best bet this time of year. From what I've gathered, bus transportation would not be difficult or too costly, however, due to the limited time I thought that having a car may provide more freedom and flexibility. Does anyone know how practical this seems especially in regards to parking if we are staying in/around Olu Deniz and Izmir. Do the hotels/resorts typically provide free parking for their guests? Also, if anyone has any suggestions as far as beaches and/or fairly inexpensive hotels, it would be much appreciated.
I arrive in Adnan Mendares tomorrow, Sunday 19 August at about 2000/2100. Is it possible to get public transport to Alacati? If not, how should I book a taxi cheaply?
I am spending a week in Cesme in mid-May and want to visit Gallipoli to see the Helles Memorial where my Grandfather is commemorated. I would prefer not to drive and wondered if there are trips organised from Cesme to Gallipoli for one or two days.
Alternatively is it possible to hire a car and driver to do a bespoke trip staying overnight in Cannakale, visiting the war sites and returning to Cesme the following day.
All suggestions and advice welcome, this is our first trip to Turkey
has anyone heard any reviews about a restaurant called The Venue in Cesme? it opened this year?
We - Turkish (w) / German (m) couple - will move to Izmir next weeks. We will be looking for a flat to rent or buy not too far from the German Turkish school in Narlidere where Thomas, the German part of the couple, will work. Evren is TV director specialized in children program and wants to work on some TV projects in the little studio we want to reserve an extra room for in the flat we are looking for.
So we will be living in or around Izmir the next years and would like to meet new people and make new friends. We would also appreciate hints or suggestions for finding a good flat, for living in Izmir, doing sports (swimming etc.) and other activities there.
If you want to meet us or have a hint or two for us, do not hesitate to write or send your phone number to us or just call us shortly - Thomas 05385506514 or Evren 05367404072 - we will call you back. Thanks and hopeful talk to you soon.
