Taxi from Hong Kong International to Shangri La Kowloon  (6 Answers)

How easy is it to get a taxi at the airport in the evening (8-9 PM)? How much is the fare on average, including luggage? Do the taxi drivers expect a tip, and if so, how much? Do airport taxis take US dollars? Do airport taxis accept credit cards?

As an alternative, are there reasonable limo services? Online, it looks like about $100 US and up.

Decent Hotel  (3 Answers)

Planning to go to hong Kong and have friends staying at the Kowloon Shangri la...however this hotel is WAY out of my price range. Does any one know of the Regal Kowloon ? I've been reading reviews and they go from great to bugs in bed..and dates are old (2008) Anyone stay there recently? If anyone can suggest another hotel in that area I would appreciate it..

Train or plane? Hong Kong to Guilin and back?  (9 Answers)

I am staying in /Hong Kong in September. Cant decide whether to take the train or fly?

Flying would be easy - once you have forced yourself through the crowds, get threatened by the hand luggage people into being frisked, crawled aboard the plane, do the same thing with the luggage carousel and best of all....it costs £264...

Train? Where do I get it? Do I have to get to Shenzen and the pick up a Guilin train. How do I do that? It takes eight smooth hours and then you alight. It costs....about ...£38.00

Train is the obvious way but how do I find my way to Shenzen station??

Itinerary Suggestion for HK Trip 10-16 January 2017  (16 Answers)

Hi guys, please allow me to post a thread for my next trip to HK next January :D

My family and I (5 pax total) plan to go to HK on 10-16 January 2017. and here is the travel background:
1. My Flight will be arrived on 10 Jan around 2 PM and fly back to my hometown on 16th around 3.30 pm.
2. We stay around Prince Edward MTR, specifically in Fa Yuen Street near Boundary Street Sport Center No. 1

I did my rough itinerary but it is still not fixed yet:
Day 1
Lands in HK
Buy Sim cards at the airport (is there any cheaper alternative than PCCW 8 days tourist pack?)
Journey to the apartment
Symphony of Lights in TST

Day 2
Breakfast around Fa Yuen Street/Jordan
The Peak/Madame Tussaud/Trick Eye Museum (Bought the ticket from klook)

Day 3
Disneyland full day (Bought the ticket from the website + meals)

Day 4
Our initial plan is to go to Ngong Ping. But since the cable car will be on renovation (Jan-Jul). We may ditch our plan to Ngong Ping since our main objective is to ride the crystal cabin cable car. However, we may still consider to go there if the attraction in the Ngong Ping village (Those motion 360, big buddha statue, etc) is worth it. Or any other places to go Please advise :D

Day 5
Take a walk around Mong Kok, Jordan, TST, visit the Avenue of the Stars, etc

Day 6
Take a walk in HK Island (Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, etc)

Day 7
Checkout from the apartment and journey back to my hometown

Based on above itinerary, is there any other suggestion to be inserted in my travel? also i need some suggestion on recommended culinary places/places to eat along with my itinerary? We also would like to spend our day 5 and 6 for shopping, is there any suggestion for shopping places? we would like to buy some clothes, electronics, etc.

In addition, i think we do not have any plan to visit Macau since we do not have any places to go to. We had a plan to visit Shenzhen but i think it is not doable for day trip only, also the VOA regulation for us is quite unclear since i also heard that VOA for Indonesians are now unavailable.

Thank you guys for your suggestions!

Hong Kong Disneyland  (6 Answers)

I'm scheduled to visit Disneyland Hong Kong with my family this November and planning to go straight to Disneyland theme park. Would you recommend us to go straight to that place with our luggage, then later on check in to the hotel (in the evening)? This is for us to cut some expenses for travel from airport to hotel and hotel to disneyland. Also for us not to wait for hotel check in time in the afternoon. Thank you in advance for your answers. :)

Advice to determine hotel  (5 Answers)

I am seeking advice from knowledgeable people to book my hotel. Initially I've booked courtyard in
1 On Ping Street, Sha Tin New Territories due to the reviews on cleanliness & quietness. After a couple of days when I want to plan my travelling via mtr, I realized my mistake. I already visualize that my daily train ride will take a toll. I only have 3 full days. Want to do a typical first time tourist thingy. To eat!to explore night shopping+eat, to see arts & eat. If able to go to the night exploring within walking distance from the hotel, it will be such a joy!
Ive concluded the following hotels cos the distance to the train station is nearby but cannot decide which one to choose. I really appreciate if you can help me to decide (obviously I cannot decide)& I can book the hotel soon. Thank you for your time & help.
1) Ibis Hong Kong Central and Sheung Wan,
No 28 Des Voeux Road West
Sheung Wan
2)Novotel Hong Kong Nathan Road Kowloon, 348 Nathan Road
Kowloon
3)ibis Hong Kong North Point,
138 Java Road NORTH POINT
4)Ovolo Hotels

Any recommendations from personal experience for a decent place to stay in for 10-odd days (Dec 23, 2016 to Jan. 02, 2017) in the heart of Hong Kong? I'll go through the reviews alright but in the meantime, do answer.

Hotel to stay  (6 Answers)

I have a plan to visit HK next nov. Arrival time at 8pm, and i'm thinking about where is the best area to pick the hotel and easy to explore the city by MTR or bus.

Better i choose north point area or tsim tsa tsui? Until now i'm still searching about operational time for mtr and the bus. Because taking taxi to the north point area is expensive, 10times than taking a bus..

Thankyou!

27 hours in HK  (4 Answers)

Hello Everyone!

My husband and I will be landing in HK from Toronto at 7:00pm and don't fly out of HK onto Cairns, Australia until the next night at 10:00pm - both flights are on Cathay Pacific. Can someone please tell me if I will have to pick up my luggage in HK and take it with me to my hotel for the night, or will it be checked through to my final destination in Cairns?

Also, if I do have to take my luggage with me, can someone PLEASE explain how the luggage drop off at an Airport Express station works? Something about sending it on a train back to the airport while we tour around. If this is reliable (although I'm sure it is - it IS Hong Kong after all; I just don't want to be screwed with not having my luggage arrive in Australia), what the cost is, and what the heck we have to do in order to drop off our luggage? We are staying at the Ibis Hong Kong Central Hotel.

Lastly, we are wanting to see/do the Peak tram as well as the Buddha Park the next day after we wake up, before heading to the airport. Do you feel as though we have enough time to see both - AND/OR what else would you recommend for that full day? We aren't adventurous food eaters and shopping is low on our list.

Thanks so much for your time and help in advance!!!

Order of our trip & how long in each place?  (9 Answers)

We're thinking of leaving from here (Canada) and going to:

- Japan (Tokyo and maybe Osaka or Kyoto)
- Hong Kong
- Macau

We're doing this in the first half of December as we want to experience Winterfest in Hong Kong. Not exactly sure when this starts though. Last year it was Fri, Dec 4.

How long do you think we should spend in these places?

We're thinking 3 days would be too short in Hong Kong but 1 week too long. Overnight & a day or two in Macau and the rest of the time in Tokyo and Osaka.

Thinking of going to Hong Kong first, then Macau then fly from Hong Kong to Tokyo.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Organic fast food  (4 Answers)

Hi, I used to be from Singapore and now have moved to Hong Kong for business purposes. When I was in Singapore, I loved to walk around and explore for organic fast food, but now that I have moved to Hong Kong, I have some difficulty finding some organic fast food to satisfy my cravings. I am very much willing to travel around to explore Hong Kong further, so would anyone be able to recommend any areas/locations/names of organic fast food that I can find in Hong Kong? Any help would be much appreciated. (:

Hi guys, I'll be spending 3 and 1/2 days in HK. On my last day, my flight to SG leaves at 8:00PM and I'll be checking out from my hotel at 12 noon.

I want to maximize my time and save money at the same time. I'm thinking of leaving my luggage somewhere while I roam around the places not so near from the airport.
