Staying in a hotel for a few nights in the Thai town/little Armenia area called Americas best value inn.
Looking for a bit of info on the area really. I know it's not far from the metro station (10 min walk if I'm correct) which is ideal for getting to touristy destinations I plan to go. I'm not hiring a car so will be dependant on public transport and uber. Is there anything around the area I am that's worth checking out and in general is it a relatively safe place to be based for my trip?
Any and all info is greatly appreciated
Im going there next month to universal studios but we're staying for 3 more days so I would like to visit other -not very expensive- places. Any recommendation or tip is more than welcome :)
How do i get to the hollywood sign?
My wife and I are staying in Hollwood, CA for two nights and have one full day planned for sightseeing (it will be a Saturday) and doing the touristy things. We will be driving our rental car and having it at our hotel. Our questions are as follows:
How much time is stuck in traffic driving from place to place? We are planning out a schedule (not necessarily tight, but we have timelines of where we want to go, etc.) and trying to add time for driving.
Is it better to do a personalized tour so that we don't need to drive and park our car?
If you've done a custom tour, who do you recommend?
Is there one part of the city busier at certain times on a Saturday morning/afternoon/evening then others? If we know West Hollywood is slammed in the morning, then we would start on the other side of town.
Thanks for your valuable knowledge and incite!
I would like your advice . I will stay for a week in West Hollywood - Near Santa Monica Boulevard, 5 mins walk to Troubadour... Is it an unsafe area to stay on my own over there?
Is it easy to take bus from there to get around?
I'm not planning to get a car as I'm not comfortable with it.
Then, I have to find another accommodation for the last 4 days - preference to be: nearer to Union street Hilton Hotel to get the San Fran bus...
Have you got any place to recommend without being too far from the Kodak Theater (as I would like to see the academy awards event)?
Many thanks for your help.
son is relocating, are there extended stay motels that are not too expensive
Forgot to mention one senior in our group. What do you suggest w/all the walking, etc.?
First time to Hollywood. Want to do all the typical tourist things & Universal, as well. Where should we stay that won't break the bank. Oh, and we will have a car.
Is anyone familiar with the above hotel please? We're in town for 2 nts only to see/visit 'the Strip'', Universal and WB Studios. All the hotels on the beaches seem to be very expensive. Is this an ok location?
We are four women in our 40s and early 50s who plan a trip to Los Angeles in the spring. We are hoping to secure Ellen Degeneres tickets to one of her tapings which is in Burbank. We would also like to see the usual....Walk of Fame, Grauman's Chinese Theatre, Universal Studio, etc. We are actually looking at renting either a condo or house in that area, rather than hotel rooms. It's a less expensive alternative but we have not yet booked it. What I need to know is - is this area, Hollywood/West Hollywood safe? I've heard that very little is walkable and that you either need a car or perhaps a car service to get you from point A to B. Is this correct? Is so, does anyone know of a reliable and affordable car service?
In doing my research and reading about Hollywood, it sounds like it may not be the best place to stay but I'm not sure where alternatively would be best for us considering some of the activities we'd like to do.
BTW - we will only be there from Sunday, leaving first thing Thursday.
Any help or suggestions are most welcome.
We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Walk of Fame in Los Angeles for 3 days. Just wondering if anyone can tell us how to get there from LAX using public transportation and how easy it is?
I have been researching the best places to get a photo of the Hollywood sign, not just a zoom job from a distance but a location where I can take a pic of myself and wife in front of the sign so the sign stands out pretty clear in the picture.
I have been told about the Griffith Observatory, 3000 and 3116 Canyon Lake Drive, Hollywood and Highland Center, 3384 Deronda Dr. Los Angeles.
Because I won't be driving in Hollywood, would asking a taxi driver to take us to any of these places be the best thing to do? or would the taxi drivers know the perfect spots? I don't really know.
A while ago, I found a post where someone found the perfect close up spot to see the Hollywood Sign.
Unfortunately, I cannot find the post I am looking for.
I have been to Hollywood before and see the sign from Muholland Drive, but this time want to get closer.
What are your secret places for up close views of the sign? Thank you!
We want to stay in Hollywood Orchard Suite for a few nights and wondering what it is like around that area.
Some people say it is dangerous around that area, but I believe if we use common sense, we will be fine. I think there is a risk where ever you go, but I want hear it from someone who live there or who travel there frequently. Is there anything we need to be concern about?
I recently booked a room at the Grafton and am attending a conference at the Hyatt in Century City. Is there an easy public transportation route to get me to and from the conference every day?
Hi! I will take the flyaway bus from LAX to my hotel - Holiday Inn Walk of Fame at 1921 N. Highland Ave. I just want to make sure that this location is nearest at Hollywood/ Highland stop and not at Hollywood/ Vine stop.
Thank you for your assistance!!
Can you get a shuttle from the Hollywood Bowl back to orange court /highland BEFORE the concert event ends. May need to leave before end of venue. If no are there taxis available there? thanks
How safe is the area around sunset and vine. What part of los angeles is the safest?
I read somewhere that we can have a good view of Hollywood sign on Hollywood & Highland centre? Is this true?
Please let me know where to best catch this and have a picture that is clear (without background of crowd).
I am planning my trip to LA in March. Will need 3 day accomodation in Hollywood area. Does anyone have any suggestions?
- clean and decent budget accomodation less than USD 100 incl of tax
- free parking or minimal rate
- near to Metro as we plan to leave the car in the hotel while we explore Hollywood
We plan to rent a car (drive to San Diego and Disneyland later part of the trip), but in Hollywood, plan to take the Metro around instead. Please let me know if this is a good idea.
Which is the best tour of Hollywood for star homes and famous locations?

I have a 6 hour layover in L.A. and would like to visit Hollywood while I'm waiting for my next flight. Can I take the metro from LAX to Hollywood & Vine? Is that the best stop to see the most tourist attractions in a short amount of time?
I will be staying in West Hollywood for about a week in the middle of August. I've heard that it is difficult to go around in LA without a car.Still I would really like to visit some of the beaches. Is there a way to go from West Hollywood to Malibu beach without a car?
Does anyone happen to know the distance or approximate cab fare from hollywood to didneyland?
