Even I am an European, I have listen about a prisonner camp in Hendersonville during the Civil War.
But what Hendersonville ? NC or SC ?
Some info about the history ?
Is there still something to see or to visit ?
If there was a Hendersonville, POW camp, I'm not familiar with it. You may be referring to Andersonville. It was the most notorious POW camp of the Civil War. It was so bad, that it's commendant was the only Confederate tried and hanged after the war. It's in Georgia, not NC or SC.
Ray, I checked my Civil War resources and could not find a reference to a Hendersonville POW camp. As Irv said, it could be Andersonville, as it was the most notorious. Karl
I think it was Andersonville and I made a mix-up with the two cities.
Thanks to have me informed.
