Where in Ghana can you just retire from a busy work and relax over the weekend. Any 5 places to recommend?
I'm currently in Los Angeles, but grew up in London and Ghana, and speak Ga and Twi.
Last time I was in Ghana was 20 years ago, so I'm sure a lot has changed.
I'm planning a short trip to go catch up with family - 4/9/15 to 4/14/15 from LAX (Los Angeles) to ACC (Accra, Ghana).
I'll be staying with family, and could ask them to plan things, but I'd rather do it myself.
Trip is for just 1 adult.
I need help with a few things :
1. Which website has the best flight deals to Ghana?, currently looking at travelocity, and it looks to be around $1250 round trip.
Is there a better site with better prices?
2. I have a phone that uses a sim card. I'd like to buy a sim card with data and airtime compatible with Ghana, while I'm still in Los Angeles, so I have service when I land, and don't have to go looking for a sim card when I land. Which website has the best options? I'll be using whatsapp to keep in touch.
3. Is there an airline that's better?, noticed Delta, Klm and british airways so far. Which airline has better food, in flight comfort etc?
4. I'd like to rent a car for the 4 day period. I have driving licenses from Ghana, Uk and US.
Which website can I rent a car from? Not planning any long trips, just driving locally in Accra.
5. What do I do about money? Read that I should not use cards in Ghana, so do I fly in with cash? Where do Americans withdraw money in Ghana? Are there atm fees? Which place offers the best currency rates and options?
Any tips or additional info, would be appreciated.
What's a reasonable price for three people?

Can anyone tell me about traveling to Ghana? My mother is 62 and going to Ghana for 3 weeks. She got into the gold business earlier this year as a gold broker. Apparently she has coordinated a sale between two individuals and needs to fly to Ghana. She said they paid for her ticket and and lodging... Everything about this sounds crazy. I am beyond worried. She insists this is a legit business and this is a real business deal. What, if anything should I be concerned about as far as traveling to Ghana. My mom is a 62 yr old white woman, she has no money so an attempt to rob her would be worthless... Is that even something to worry about? Thoughts? Advice?
Staying in ho now, i want to go to tamale soon. here are the two options i thiught of:
1 go to hohoe and thend take trotro towards bimbilla and later to tamale. It will take me 3 days.
2 take the ferry in akosombo and go to yeji. There i will take a trotro to tamale.
What are your experiences? Can i feel safe on the ferry? Is it hard to find trotros in hohoe heading north?
Btw: i know i could catch a bus in accra, but i would like to see more of the volta regiin. So these are the options. :-)

I planned to bring in gluten free items, like pita, fruit leathers (natural fruit made like taffy) soy milk, and Vegetable juice. Who can give me a definite answer on what is allowed???

What is the best way to covert dollars to cedis at a Barclay's Bank in Ghana? Do they have a foreign transaction fee? Cash advance fee?
I'm considering to travel this winter to Ghana but also read that it's elections time shortly.
Anybody has idea if this can be a difficult period with unrest and such?
Also in neighbouring Togo they will hold elections...(I would visit there, too, in the same trip)
So maybe should wait and see or just go anyway?
Many thanks !!

Could anybody please guide how much it costs by Taxi to be dropped at Tema from Accra and pickup in the evening. Or for renting the taxi for the whole day for the trip to Tema ? I have some official tour for one week to Tema. Any good Taxi's details as well please !
Normally when I go abroad, I buy some local currency before I go because my current account and credit card charge a fee for this. Is there anywhere (reputable!) that I can order Ghanaian cedis before I travel?
If not - what would you advise I do? Take travellers checks and change them? I am flying straight from Accra to tamale (without going into the city) so I am worried about changing travellers checks in Tamale.
My credit card is a mastercard - is it true this type of card is rarely accepted?
Many thanks for your help
