Hi, we have one day in Geiranger when our cruise ship docks. What are the 'must sees' in this area? Will we need transport or will we see all there is to see on foot? Thanks and regards
Hi Alison - I see you are asking for cruise port info. A great place to look for recommendations or post your own questions is www.cruisecritic.com. Go to the site, then Boards/Ports of Call/Europe/Northern Europe & Baltics.
You'll find quite a bit of other information regarding your ship, etc., even a place to "meet" some other cruisers on your particular cruise on the Cruise Critic site.
Have a great cruise!
you will not dock, but have tenderservice.
you can walk to a small waterfall and do some shopping, but the best of this place is the view from the Dalsniba mountain and the Troll-steps, both are too far to walk and I dont think you will find puplic bus for this !
See if you can organise a trip to Dalsnibba - you may find a coach going there. Or perhaps your cruise ship could organise it? If not, just walk up the road in the direction of Dalsnibba and see the fjord from a viewing platform that you will find described on my Geiranger page.
Dalsnibba is really to far to walk and I dont remember a public bus there, but maybe there is one in high season.
Tours ordered by the ship are really expensive in Norway !
thank you so much for all the information, just great. Best regards

Thank you for taking the time to send me this information. Much appreciated, Best regards
Thank you so much for this useful information. Best regards
The attraction of Geiranger is the fjord itself! Be sure to be on deck the whole way in and out. Not much to do on shore except buy the souvenirs you find everywhere else
agreeing with daarth here,, the main attraction in geiranger is the sail IN and OUT:)..
