Hello! On Sunday I'm going to Freiburg and I'm arriving in the evening (and I'll be staying there for a month for a study-holiday). Then on Monday I'll need to go from Vauban to the city centre by bus.
Can you tell me if I can I buy bus tickets directly on board? Otherwise where can I find them?
Thank you in advance!
Hi, I' d like to rent an apartmen for 4 nigths. Which area would recommend me? We are three adults and two babies and we have a car so we dont need public transportation. We intend to visit Gegenbach, Titisee, Schluchsee, Gutach. Thanks in advance.

Consdering an exursion to Strasbourg. Assuming that I had bought Baden-W'berg Laender Ticket, I would take a train from Freiburg to Offenburg and then get on the Rhine-Metro to Strasbourg. Is a DB LaenderTicket valid on the Rhine-Metro? For the full journey, for part of the journey, not at all? Any advice would be appreciated...
Assuming I started the day in possession of a VAG Regio 24 card, what extra tickets would I need to complete a out-of-zone excursion to Donaueschingen? What type of ticket (in German) should I ask for, and where should I buy them? I am assuming that it is fairly easy to locate the Fuerstenberg brewery once you are in Donaueschingen... Correct?
where to buy walking dead products in freiburg im breisgau

I am cycling in the area around Freiburg for 2 weeks, should I take a road bike or mountain bike?
I which to rent a bicycle for three weeks. Is there one or more rental shops in Freiburg that you can suggest?
Considering a trip with my wife, taking in Elsess/Alsace. Fly to Euro Airport (Basel), then an anti-clockwise, or clockwise, circuit by train and/or bus taking in Colmar, Strasbourg, Freiburg, Breisach etc. If we had to travel from Basel to Freiburg, I am sure the best (cheapest) option would be to use a DB Baden-Württemberg-Ticket for 2 people. My German is not bad, but and I have looked at this PDF, . But could a German-speaker please confirm my understanding that the ticket would be valid from our Swiss departure point (Basel), and be valid on local transport (RVF) in Freiburg when we got there. Is there any problem buying the Baden-Württemberg-Ticket at Basel station?
Thankyou to 'the usual suspects' (Turtleshell, abalada, Kakapo2) for your replies to my previous questions about Freiburg.
I now intend to visit the 'Goldener Sternen' ( and its urinals!) on Monday 12th Nov.
If I understand the website correctly ("Ab SOFORT ist es wieder soweit! Wirtshaus-Quiz mit Bier, Billy Knox und tollen Preisen. Aus den Irish Pubs in den Goldenen Sternen eingezogen: Der Sternen-Quiz-Abend.Der Sternen-Quiz-Abend findet jeden Montag ab 21 Uhr in unserem Nebenzimmer statt".), there will be a quiz using a 'live video link' to some Irish bars in Freiburg. I may try to wangle my way onto a team using my natural British charm (!) and limited aptitude for the German language... Or if anyone attending this quiz and reading this - a very, very remote possibility! - needs another team member (degree in European Humanities, semi-fluent in five languages, OK on music pre-1980 and British sport!), please let me know...
Just under two weeks till my trip to Freiburg. Can't wait.
A bit sad to learn that the Schauinslandbahn is out of service (Nov 2012 til Apr 2013) for maintenance. Someone knew that I was coming! Question: is it worth going up to Schauinsland by one of the substitute bus services?
Question: What are the chances of snow? For weekend 10th/11th Nov? I am going to see SC Freiburg play Hamburg SV. I checked out SC Freiburg's latest game, and saw images of players playing in a snowstorm! ( )
Final, trivial, question: does anyone know which bar these urinals are located? I'm not surprised musicians complain about them!
I am taking an early train from Freiburg im Breisgau to Frankfurt airport. The train gives me a 6 minute connection in Mannheim. Does anyone know if that is long enough to change trains with luggage?

We are visiting freiburg in first week of may and going to stay there for 3 days. We have a eurail pass and are travelling with a 2 yr old. following is the itenery we are planning:
Day 1- go around freiburg, munsterplatz etc. I read that Schauinsland and Schlossberg are close to freiburg. how do we go about planning tour for these two. we do not have car. will our eurail pass cover bus/trams in freiburg or we can buy some ticket for the bus/trams in the black forest area?
Day 2- visit titisee and Schluchsee- since both are closeby . i have the train timetables. But is there any entrance fee to visit the lake? if we drop Schluchsee (since both are lakes),what else can we cover on that day? something closeby?
Day 3- visit Triberg and baden-baden- we r planning to go to triberg via train although it takes 1 hr 45 mins since we have a pass. In triberg we can see the waterfall, cuckoo clock. Is there any entrance fee to visit the waterfall? is the black forest museum worth visiting?. In baden baden, we will not go for spa or casino as we have an infant. just to go around the city. what is the best way to see the city? I heard something about RVF ticket, if we buy rvf ticket, will it cover land transport in all black forest area?

Hello, we' ll be in Freiburg next week and, since I am a little bit afraid of weather conditions, I would like to know if there are any big malls to spend some pleasant time, when it is too cold outside. We are not really shopping - maniacs, but we could give a look at toys, books, traditional products, or clothes. I know about the christmas market, of course, but I would like to have an alternative, in case of bad weather. Any other inside activity would be very appreciated, as well. Thanks a lot!

I know that I need to buy a low emission zone sticker for my car if I drive in the center of Freiburg.
I am trying to find out exactly what is considered the center and where the low emission sticker is needed. I have looked at the tourism website for Freiburg but can't find a map of the restricted zone.
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi, I'm just wondering if there are places to buy souvenirs in Freiburg? I'm visiting Freiburg to attend university in September and all of my friends and family would love me to bring back typical German souvenirs (e.g. 'I Love Germany/ Deutschland' items, German dolls etc..)
Im currently on holiday in Europe and will be driving into central Freiburg tommorow. I am driving a Volkswagen hired from Hertz in Amsterdam. Would anyone please know how i would go about obtaining a low emission sticker to allow me to access the centre as my hotel is within this zone. I was given incorrect information by my rental company as they said i didnt require any sticker to enter this zone as the car was new.
Thanks in Advance
