Looking for some advice.... For snuba and snorkling, which is better? Duck Key or Sombrero Reef
I was looking at doing a charter..
Dive Duck Key has their own sites they go to and apparently dont have another dive shop within 10 miles of their shop. Seems the wild life is kinda slack and you mostly see sand and rock.. not much coral and fish etc. I at least gather this info by watching youtube videos of dives at this site. Am I wrong? Is it worth it?
I was looking at this charter as well which goes to Sombrero Reef. Sombrero Reef seems more lively but is also more packed.
Which one do yall recommend. Thank you
Also we were looking at snorkeling with ... the 3 stop trip. Does anyone have any experience with this trip? Thank you
I've been reading some of the discussions on here about travelling around in Florida.
I'm going to be staying in Miami Beach, then heading up to St. Pete Beach. Is there any easy way that this can be done using public transport? I suspect from the discussions I've read so far, the answer is no, but I thought I'd have one last check!
If travelling by car is the best option, are there any particular hire companies that have been tried and tested by participants on these forums?
And finally, are there towns/cities on the way up that I should definitely stop in (not to stay necessarily, but just to see or take a day trip to during the week)? Naples, Venice and Sarasota have been recommended.
And in St. Pete.... any things that shouldn't be missed, based on your own experiences? This can include things to do, places to see or places to eat/drink!
Thanks in advance!
Looking for ideas for a good restaurant for an anniversary dinner. Not too dressy.... We wanna wear our shorts. Will have two small children with us and husband is allergic to shell fish. Any ideas? Thanks in advance and blessings.
What is the best beach in the keys with plenty of palms over the water and not so crowded. Not sure if there are any, but not looking for and nice or topless beaches. Just looking for opinions. Thanks for info and blessings.
Going from Atlanta to the keys should we drive it fly? If fly, which is the best and best budget airport to fly into around the keys? Seen that Miami can be a hassle. Thanks for any info and blessings.
I'm starting my planning early for our honeymoon next September.
My plan was to fly from the UK to Florida, and head to a beach area for a few days. My first thought was Key West area or Clearwater but some of the nicer hotels are very expensive for 3 nights. Is there any little gem place that has reasonable priced hotels and a nice beach with possibly some water activities?
The plan is to the drive to Orlando and do the theme parks. I have been there before but 11years ago in my early teens and my partner has never been. The Disney hotels look fairly pricey for the moderate priced ones, compared to staying in a decent hotel. Are they really worth the extra money? If not then any good hotels or villas in the area that also have own kitchen facilities as eating out every day for 2 weeks will quickly add up. I was originally looking at the 3 palms, The palms hotel and villas, any reviews on this place?
Any tips or advice you guys have would be great and really appreciated. I know it shouldn't come down to money but it always does! We want a champagne honeymoon on a beer budget ;) thank you x
We are looking to spend Christmas in Florida. We want to stay on the beach and have a couple questions. Which beach is the best (warmest) in Florida in December. We are looking at a condo, or resort. Something with a pool and a place where there are things to do. Any suggestions.
Thanks in advance for your help
Myself and my wife are visiting Florida in August this year, landing in Miami on the 25th August, staying until after the Labor Day Weekend on 6th September. We have decided that we are going to hire a car and try and see a few different areas of the state, finishing with 4 days in Miami.
We are just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of any great areas to visit or hidden gems? We are possibly thinking Sarasota/Naples-Key West-Miami with a stop in the Everglades in between? We aren't really too fussed on Orlando and the theme parks to be honest.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly received!
We are going on a two weeks road trip in March-April with our two children. Starting from Miami , down to the Keys, then back up to Naples, Crystal River, Coco Beach and back to Miami. We always planned to hire a convertible car but I now realise that a convertible only allows us to bring two cabin size suitcases and a couple of rucksacks but that's it. So wondering if after all, considering the wind, risk of sunstroke, lack of boot space, we wouldn'tbe better off with a standard car. Any thoughts?
I am going to be in St Augustine Dec13-21, what is the weather like, what type of clothes do I need
We are a swedish couple visiting Florida in late November. Our route is will start in Orlando, then heading to Clearwater Beach for a few nights. The heading down to Fort Myers Beach, staying a couple of nights then Naples and finaly over to Delray Beach on the east coast visiting a friend.

We (65+ couple) will arrive to Miami at Sept. 8, rent a car and try to see, tour, experience, eat and buy the best of Florida. Finishing at Sept 19 in Cape Canaveral, then we'll take a cruise.
Will really appreciate tips about places, tours, restaurants, attractions, etc.
We are a couple from Sweden who is planning a trip to the Gulf Coast but don't know where to stay.
We have been looking at Siesta Keys or Fort Myers Beach but it's hard to decide.
We love going to white sandy beach, having dinner and a couple of beers in the evening preferbly with some live music :)
Could anyone give us some tips? There must be some small shops and we want to meet people so it shouldn't be to quiet.

I am planning our 7e travel in South Florida for November. Our 1st stop is in Fort Lauderdale but we do not want to drive too much. Our idea is to go North from FL to Fort Pierce. What are the best places to stay on this route.
We wish to stay near the beaches but also in the towns in order to do some visits and see some attractions. Have you proposals for this project. We will have a leasing car.
Are there greyhound races in November ? If I remeber well they begin in December.
We do not foresee to go in the Everglades where we have already gone several times but if you know some thing interesting between the A 75 and the Okeechobee Lake, I would thank you to tell me what.
Thank you for you proposals.
I am planning to travel by car in South Florida between 14th November and 24 November 2015 (Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Flirida city, Key West).
To avoid any concern during the vacation, I wish to know if there are a special fest or event in this area during this period.
I remember our first vacation in Miami Beach in November 2002, we had a warm weather but it is the only experience we have of this season. What temperature and weather can we expect ?
Thanks a lot for the answers.
Is Highland Beach served by local public transit (bus service)? Can anyone confirm local service within the HB area?
If not, what would be my nearest point of connection to HB should I have to use an alternative? Amtrak into Delray Beach or a point nearer Miami (Boca Raton) then taxi?
I have a trip booked for Florida between 3-17 and it will be first trip to the states. I would love to see a proper American baseball, football or basket ball game. Are any of these sports in season in July and how early do tickets become available for purchase?
Hi Are there any Casinos near highway on Mass to Florida route . NC or SC. Thanks Johnny
We will go to South Florida for the 6th time in February 2015.
At the end of our trip, we must go from Fort Myers Beach to Fountainebleau (Miami) to spend one day at the Dolphin Mall and at the Miami International Mall.
We have the choice between 3 routes :
- Crossing the Everglades by 41
- Taking the highway 75
- Taking the 80 and passing by the Lake Okeechobee .
Previously, we have already taken the 2 first routes and we will cross Florida E/W by 41 on the way there to reach Naples before joining Fort Myers.
Does the third one (80) worths the travel : landscapes, cities, nature, thing to do and to see despite it the the longest route ?
Thanks a lot to help us to make our opinion.
Thinking of going on a Royal Carribbean Cruise in November 2015,
and spending 9 days afterwards, in Orlando and general Florida area.
What is the best way to book the cruise, and any ideas for the 9 days after?.
We will be travelling from Ireland. Thank sin advance Jim.
We are coming down to the Panhandle in our fifth wheel, with our family. We enjoy a smaller beach town feel. We'd like some hometown, smaller restaurant's.We can get bigger chain's at home. But we'd like a decent options on dinner. We love Navarre, but we don't care for an RV Park. I see that Henderson is closest to Destin, we know plenty about Destin. Truthfully we feel Destin is bigger & busier than we want. We are coming down for the beach, mainly only going out for dinner. We know next to nothing about Grayton State Park. Is there plenty in Grayton or will we have to go to another town? Can anyone help us learn about Grayton and maybe which State Park is more what we'd like? Any & all opinions are appreciated!
Hiya, I will be travelling from London, United Kingdom to visit a friend in St Augustine FL and then I have a flight booked from Miami FL to The Bahamas to spend a week there before flying home to England. I have several days to make the make an overland trip from St Augustine to Miami but it just so happens to be around Thanksgiving? Do Greyhound buses, Amtrak and taxis still operate a "normal" service over the holiday? Please don't suggest renting a car. I drive all over Europe for a living and refuse to do it while on vacation.
My family and I are traveling to Kisimmee October 2015, were all boked up but the only thing we've not got yet is our park tickets. Initailly we were going for a 6 park combi (both Universal's, seaworld, busch gardens, wet n wild and aquatica) however friend have told us we have to do the Disney parks as we have 4 kids 4,6,6,8 with us.
Whats the opinion of you guys, is the disney parks a must or will the other 6 be suffice for us all?
