In short it reads: For nearly 18 years VirtualTourist.com has served as our home for sharing our travel adventures and advice, and for connecting with other travelers. TripAdvisor, which owns the website, has said it will close the doors on VT in February and delete millions of tips, reviews, photos and videos from the site. Many of us have used VT as a way to preserve our experiences to share with our friends, our children, our grandchildren and other travelers. We believe there is a way for Trip Advisor to keep our content. Simply keep the member pages, which we know are not indexed by google, turn off the travel guides and forums, and freeze new postings and new memberships but please let us keep and preserve our memories…many of which have been well over a decade in the making! We would even be open to paying a small fee to have our pages saved as part of this library! Steve Kaufer, we implore you to please reconsider deleting decades of memories from existence and keeping our pages intact!! Thank you for your consideration! This petition will be delivered to: Tripadvisor Steve Kaufer
We love road trips in Europe and one of the things we like to do is to visit different kind of festivals, markets or other local happenings. Everything from the tulip blooming in the Netherlands to a small fruit tree blooming festival in a small village is of interest.
If it is food, drinks, historic happenings or anything else which is celebrated please let us know about your local festival or a festival you have attended or know of. The whole of Europe is of interest.

We're looking to travel Europe for a few weeks in the summer, the plan is to fly into Berlin and use public transport/trains to get from country to country or city to city! Anyone done this before and can help me find the best / most flexible / cost efficient methods of travelling, including moving through countries! Haven't had this type of holiday before and willing to spend money but would like to see how far we can get on a budget! Thanks in advance
We are headed to Madrid and Barcelona and would like to rent an apartment for our stay. Anybody have a recommendation?

Few questions that I have in mind for everyone would be.
Do you think this is possible?
How much budget should I be looking at?
Any alternatives that I should look into?
Thoughts/Ideas on my grand plan!

3rd week -Venice/Florence/Rome
4/5th week - Poland for 2 Weeks (Family)

I'm thinking of travelling alone to one of the following countries this winter for skiing, nightlife, sight seeing and trying local food. I would like to know in which of these countries I might / would not face any racism as I'm brown skinned. In general, which of these countries see a lot of tourists, or are very welcoming to tourists?
Serbia Montenegro Bulgaria Armenia Georgia Kosovo Macedonia Bosnia & Herzegovina Albania Belarus
I know that if I rent a car in Europe with pickup and return in 2 different countries, there is likely to be a hefty drop-off fee. But if I rent a car in Barcelona, drive into France, and then return the car to Barcelona, is there any fee for that?
I'm looking at getting beginner ski lessons from an English speaking instructor outside the Americas.
I'm thinking of the following countries. Let me know which one you would recommend for this winter:
Bosnia & Herzegovina
I’m considering going to central Europe between 19th and 27th November, potentially flying in or out of Budapest, Vienna and/or Bratislava. Is it easy to simply choose my incoming and outgoing flights now and book the first couple of nights accommodation, and then book subsequent trains, buses, hostels and hotels as I go along? Is it easy enough with only English? is it easy to cross the border from one country to another? And is there any location you recommend I real must see? Thanks!
The British Pound is weak in the currency exchange.against the Euro, ,at the moment. This is great for visitors to Britain, not so good for Brits to Europe, My question is about eastern European currency. How is Romania, Hungary, and Poland currency affected ? Thanks.

Hello, I'm going to be travailing around Europe and parts of Asia this winter (from December 16th - January 3rd) and was wondering what would be the best places to see within London, Vienna, Budapest, Rome and Moscow.
We have a week off from the last weekend in October to early November and are looking for a place in Europe that's warm (ideally above 20°C) and relatively cheap to get to from Berlin. We'll be travelling as a couple and enjoy history, food, beaches (but not a must), nature, landscapes and wildlife. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I've spent the last few days looking around but most places I'd like to go to seem to be either very expensive to get to (Canary Islands, Cyprus, Madeira), cold (most cities in northern and central Europe), or pretty much closing down for the season (Greek, Italian and Balearic Islands). Thanks in advance! :)
Next week I'll be heading to a trekking trip with my friends and were looking for a trek that goes from a village to another that has hostels or other places to sleep in or perheps winter huts that are open for hikers/ maybe some one can recommend a specific trek that is sutiable for october or a country we should go to.
. I don't have much experience with hiking this time of the year but we dont mind a bit of snow or rain , and we are looking for a bit of a challnging trek so dont go too easy on us, also we prffer a trek that inculdes moutains if possible.
- And also does anybody know about the current conditions? Is there already a lot of snow (compared to other years)? What is a good place on the web to find out about local conditions?
Any further general tips for a good trek from experienced people are always welcome. Many thanks in advance!
Hi -- I have 2 daughters-- aged 22 who would like to do a tour in europe (or maybe USA)over dec/jan.They have only ever travelled with the family before-- They are not too well travelled and somewhat unsure of themselves getting around etc. They would think a bus tour would be the way to go -- not sure if the contiki or topdeck thing the their scene -- would not enjoy continual late party nights ,drinking and such that seem to be the scene on these tours --- is that the right assumption ?-- is there any alternatives out there for their age group ?--- thanks
We are traveling to Barcelona, Marseilles and Paris in October. We all own iPhones with Verizon plans. Many friends suggest we just purchase "burner" phones in Europe and leave the smart phones behind. But that will make it harder for us to check email and communicate with family back home. What are our options?
What can we see around Montecatini, what cities to visit?
Am going to start this trip planning early as I know it will take some time to get right and also will change plenty so any advice would be great.

I want to organise for my mum to go on a tour to Europe (or more specifically Italy if possible). She will be travelling by herself and is in her mid 60s. Does anyone have any recommendations on travel companies that specialise in tours for seniors, and if possible for people who are travelling solo?
Thank you :)

Have anyone experience the GoEuGo travel company? I am from London. I wanna trip the round tour from the company to Eastern Europe. I want to know some preview of it.
We have hired a car for September from Europcar via Rentalcars.com. We have used Europcar before and everything was fine but this time we wanted to avoid the queues at their Edinburgh office and made the booking through Rentalcars, pre-paying with our debit card. (Europcar wanted a credit card and we don't have one) Has anybody used Rentalcars? Are they a reliable firm?
Here once more I kindly ask for some info regarding if it's possible heading to Constanta from Varna. Also it'd be nice to know how's the weather during the last 2 weeks of August in the Black sea. Otherwise if both places are pretty much the same, is it possible travel directly to Bucharest from Varna rather than Constanta?
For a u.s. citizen, how difficult is it to travel between countries ? And how is Verizon cell service in Spain?
