Hello...can anyone sugest a good budget accomodation at Barra Da Lagoa? Looking for a double room with my boyfriend. Somewhere social where there will be lots of other people to meet.
Will be arriving Florianopolis around the 18th or 19th of June.
Looking for a place to stay preferably in the Lagoa the Conceicao area.
Poussada, stay with a family or other possibilities.
Need internet access.
Also looking to take some private lessons in Portuguese.
Also, how about cell phones?? Is it possible to rent one, or have a SIM card for my own cell phone??
Anyone from the Forum going to be there in June or July? Would like to meet as many people as possible.
Any and all info appreciated.
Dear Members ,
I am planning to visit Santa Catarina for Oktoberfest this year.
I would like to know from someone who has been there , where
I should stay while I am there ? I want to see Floripa , Itajai and
Joinville as well as Blumenau and the festival. Would it make more
sense and would I be happier staying in Floripa and just driving
or catching the buses to other cities or should I base my stay
in Blumenau for a few days , then move down to Floripa ?
I am single and going alone so my options are wide open.
I would greatly appreciate any advice or help in making
informed and educated decisions regarding my travel plans.
My objective is to have a blast , meet some good people
(especially single ladies) and feel safe and secure at all times.
Also would apreciate any info about those cities. I originally wasn't going to Blumenau, but since I'm traveling at the time for Oktoberfest, I feel it would be a crime NOT to visit:) Also any info about lodging or points of interest in and around those places would be apreciated. Thanks.
I plan to spend 4 days in Garopaba or Praia do Rosa the first week of September to whale watch, do a bit of hiking, and just relax on the beach. I will be traveling solo.
Pretty much everything that I've found on the web says "rent a car" - but I don't know how to drive a stick shift, and it looks like it is pretty hard to find automatic transmission cars, so I will not have a car and will need to rely on local busses or taxis.
Which area has the prettier beach and surrounding area?
Which has better pousadas (under40/night)?
Is public transporation in that area reliable/inexpensive where I can go to various beaches during the 4 days, or will I be "stuck" in one area?
Muito obrigada por sua ajuda
Mid April I will visit Floripa and my international flight is arriving in Sao Paulo at 21.00. I like to take a long distance night bus from Sao to Floripa. Can someone help me out how to arrange this bus trip? Is the busstation in Sao near the airport? Do I have to order a busticket in advance? thnx, Slipstream1
Has anyone been there? Recommendations? I am going to be in Porto Alegre, and am thinking of trying to take a bus to the park. Any info much appreciated.

Hello friends! I will be visiting Santa Catarina in November (you can tell I am really looking forward to it) and there I will be joined by my mother, my sister, and my little nephew, for a nice vacation. I am looking for a nice place to stay, not necessarily huge, but comfortable, convenient, in a nice location so that they can enjoy the visit as much as possible. I have heard wonderful things about Santa Catarina and I am making sure to learn more about it from books and travel guides, but there is nothing better than a personal note/suggestion from a local who knows the place first hand, and I would appreciate that very much, or a reply from someone who has spent some good time there and knows his/her way around S.C. fairly well. Well, any help would be appreciated very much. Thanks a lot and I do hope that help keeps coming the way of the families that suffered in the latest huricane. I.V.
oi! Im going to be studying Portuguese at language school in Florianopolis. Is it easy enough for me to take the bus from Sao Paulo airport to Floripa? Obrigada, Elle
Hi Everyone, My name is Jasmine from Australia and I am 22. I am staying Porto Alegre...at the moment, and would love some advise on where to stay for the carnival. I was planing to go to somewhere in Santa Caterina or dont mind travelling a little bit more, I just want some thing that is a great environment and that is going to show me what a carnival is like in Brazil ( the south I guess ) I was considering Florianopilis or Guarda maybe. I have heard in Bahia its the best, but dont really want to go there by myself, and its meant to be quite expensive. So please let me know ! Jasmine xoxox
Hi I was in Floripa last week and stayed at the hotel Gaivota in Barra da Lagoa... and I forgot my camera there. I can't find there number, anyone from Floripa that can help me. (I got a number from a travel book: 232 3253, and they changed number!) Thanks for the help. Bruno
Hello, I was thinking about going there for 2 weeks in November to take some basic Portuguese. Is this a good time of the year to have good weather? Is there enough to do in Florianópolis to occupy myself for 2 weeks? thanks
