I will be traveling from Yogya to Cemoro Lawang on August 6th.
Would this journey be possible in 1 day?
Yogya to Surabaya by train -> Surabayy to Probolinggo by public bus -> Probo to Cemoro by minivan.
And also, will it be possible to arrange accomodation for 1 night in Cemoro (just until 03h00 or so, to do the sunrise-trek) on August 6th?
I will be travelling around Indonesia in october.(Java,Bali,Lombok)
I intend travelling from Surabaya to Banyuwangi and onwards to Dempassar.
I would prefer to do the first stage by train and transfer to boat and bus for the latter part.
Could an inclusive ticket be bought that gets me all the way.
Is this a good way of doing it or is it better to go by bus all the way.
What are the pitfalls?
Thanks foryour help

Hi there - we're due to take our family on a volcano discovery tour to East Java at the end of the year - the kids are so excited about climbing Mount Bromo and seeing into its crater. BUT the volcano has been showing signs of increased activity and I hear that the area either 1 or 2 km from the rim is closed to tourists. I'm not sure whether we should still go or whether it just makes for an even more exciting kids' adventure..... Can anyone who's there now or been there in the last couple of weeks please advise! Thank you
I plan to visit Surabaya this year end for 5 days.
What are the attractions in Surabaya? I'd like to include Mt Bromo in my plan. Or it is too far and too time consuming?
Hi, unfortunately we need to travel from Bromo to Yogya on Oct 3. We will fly from Lombok to Surabaya on Oct 2, arriving noon time and bus to Bromo. (Will there is any problem for bus traveling during this period?)
Stay one nite and after sunrise tour, go to Yogya on Oct 3.
Could anybody help on service (minibus etc) from Bromo to Yogya and the rate?
I got a quotation for train from Surabaya to Yogya at US$25 per person. However, I prefer a direct transfer from Bromo to Yogya.
It seems impossible to find any agencies online in Problinggo. Not sure if any agencies in Yogya or Surabaya provide such service.
Many thanks in advance!
I'll be travelling to Java end of August. Will be covering Bandung / Jogja / Solo / Mt Bromo / Surabaya.
1. How do I travel from Solo to Mt Bromo? Do I need to get to Surabaya first? If I could skip Surabaya then I'll cover the city only upon my return from Bromo.
2. How do I make arrangement for the Mt Bromo trip? Can be done before I travel to Indonesia? Any recommendation?
3. I'm not that physically fit, so I don't intend to climb Mt Bromo. I read that I can get the sunrise view from other mountains. Any recommendation? How do I make this arrangement?
Thanks in advance.
Hi, we are thinking of going to Kawah Ijen after Mt Bromo, and then going forward to Bali after Ijen. We start from Surabaya. After the research, the part from Surabaya to Mt Bromo seems simple enough to do by ourselves. But the segment from Mt Bromo to Kawah Ijen appears more challenging as it may take a lot of train/bus transfer to get there. We don't have much time for this. Therefore, I wonder if it is possible to make such transportation/accommodation arrangement when we arrive in Mt Bromo? Most likely we are staying in Lava View Lodge. Can they make such an arrangement or we'd better just take 3d/2n package tour (include Mt Bromo/Ijen and Ferry to Bali) from Surabaya? I got a quote from Global Adventure Indonesia for 180 Euro per person for such package. I am not sure if that's a good deal. Appreciate if you can provide your experience.
I'm planning (2 persons) to make a round trip: Surabaya -Bromo- Jogyakarta.
here are my questions:
1. How to get from Surabaya airport to Bromo? Would it be OK to take local transport or do we need to contact a travel/transport agency?
Do you have any phone numbers or e-mails for transportation?
2. How to get from Bromo to Jogyakarta?
Again, any websites, phone numbers are most welcome.
If you have any idea about prices, I'd appreciate it.
I have heard that there are minibuses, but do they serve only groups or could you take them randomly?
The cheaper the better :-)
Thank you in advance!
I am not sure whether I shall stay at Malang or Batu for one and a half day, after visiting Mt Bromo. Plan to travel in June.
I plan to go slow and take my own leisure time to explore the area.
Would you recommend? Thanks
I am going to Surabaya and Tulung Agung next week. I have no problem in making my hotel reservation in Surabaya via internet as most of the hotels have websites. I am having difficulties in finding the right hotel for my family to stay in Tulung Agung. Can anybody recommend me a clean and nice hotel in Tulung Agung (at least 3 star hotel)and how can I make reservations?
Does anybody have experience hiking Mt. Semeru? We're planning to do a 4-day hike to the mountain and back to Cemoro Lawang.
We will need a guide and a tent. Is it best to go to the agent in Probolinggo or Malang or book well in advance? Can anyone share names/phone numbers of good and not very expensive travel agents?
Thanks for the help!
Is it possible to go dirctly from the Surabaya airport to Malang? How much would taxi cost?
