Staying in downtown Dallas Thurs and Friday night to see a basketball game and hockey game. Wondering what would be a fun bar afterwards in downtown or uptown. Both mid 20's.
Hi, I'm meeting up with a girlfriend in Dallas for a weekend. We are both in our 60's, and looking to stay in a safe neighborhood of Dallas. Close enough to a museum or two. Great restaurants and maybe a wine bar. We like to shop at galleries. Flying into Love Field, I will most likely rent a car. Any suggestions?
Flying into Dallas love 11pm and flying out of DFW the following day at 5 pm for an International flight.Should we stay close to airport of can we stay downtown where there is more to do?Would it be easy to get to the airport from downtown on a Saturday? How long would it take?
Can anyone advise me on the drive , what's an easy safe little town to do a late overnight and any must-see attractions on the way ( I love to stop at unique places and make fun wherever I go) hotell must be enough out of Dallas to avoid traffic...,
Any other tips would be greatly appreciated , after Austin I'm going to New Braunfels for a class .
May 29th for a week thanks y'all
Hi My friend and I are coming to Dallas in 2 weeks and we are staying on Elm Street, I have googled some bars close to our hotel such the Iron Cactus and the Press Box. It says its a 7 minute walk from our hotel, now we are coming from England and live in a City and do walk about of an evening. But I was wondering how safe it is for 2 women to walk back to their hotel from Main St to Elm St on their own late evening. Would it be safer to get an Uber home?
Thanks in advance
i am asking this on behave of my elderly parents(quite fit though)-- they will be going to little elm, texas in May to visit relatives for two weeks-- i am thinking that a small trip away in that time might be a good idea for them. They dont want to put out the relatives too much with trips out and about -- can anyone tell me about public transport out of little elm --buses/trains to anywhere interesting ?
I was also thinking that there might be a short bus trip tour from dallas to san antonio or somewhere else interesting -- just lasting up to 4 days or so.As i said they are quite fit so lots of walking would be okay-- but not very confident in another country(from Australia)-- thank you
Have a 24 hour stopover in Dallas, and want to see Cowboys stadium and the Kennedy museum. Where is the safest part of town for accomadation, I have heard that some parts are quite unsafe.
Hi my friend and I are going to Dallas May 2016, its our first time and we was wondering the best area to stay in. I have been looking at Downtown area and the Nylo and Crown Plaza Hotel. We very much want to experience the saloon bars and have heard Gillys Cowboy bar is good for this? We also want to go to a Dallas Cowboys match while we are here, can anybody tell us when the fixtures become available or any other sport matches we can go to.
Thanks very much
My family and I are planning on moving to Dallas. My husband´s job will be at the SouthEast of the Dallas Area. We have two small children and will like to find a safe place to live. We are not planning on buying a house we where thinking on renting an apparment but after reading some comments here I´m afraid of not finding the right neighborhood. Any good suggestions? We don´t care about bars or nightlife, just a nice safe place, maybe close to a park a school and a grocery store, not too fancy and expensive but safe. (Safe being the imperative word :)
I am a single female and will be travelling from England , UK to attend Megafest . Can anyone recommend cheaper places to stay . I am willing to use Public transport to travel to and fro the American Airlines Centre. I can't afford to pay $1200 for a 5 night stay.
We're a group of 6 late 20s and early 30s spending Memorial Day wknd in Dallas. Can we get recommendations on hotels ad places to see? We'd like to partake in the nightlife as well as do tourist type stuff. As for hotel budget we'd like to be under $200/night.
What clothing/shoes appropriate for Dallas in March?
I have a stopover in Dallas tomorrow for 5 hours. Is there anything you can suggest doing whilst I am there.
Is it very far to take the Metro into the Downtown area? (if not, how long and what are the costs?)
Also, if I cannot get to the downtown area, are there any places to go to near the airport?
(Reason asking is that regardless of having Emerald (British Airways Gold) Status on one World, American Airlines lounges are utterly RUBBISH where you are handed 2 (if that) drinks vouchers!! NOT what we are accustomed to in Europe).
So don't want to kill time in a rubbish lounge with overpriced food (as food is not free either) and drinks that you need to pay for.
Thanks for any advice given its much appreciated.
Moved to the Dallas area a few months ago. Trying to decide where to take my mother and sister when they arrive, for dinner, sightseeing and fun. Any suggestions?
Hello, I am in need of some well thought out answers!
A little back story...
I am moving from Los Angeles to Dallas with my fiancé. We're aware that the upscale neighborhoods more central to Dallas are University Park and Highland Park, but unfortunately the homes there are out of our budget. We've explored surrounding suburbs, but we live in a very central location now so I'm used to city living. I also really loathe driving longer than 20 minutes :)
I need to know if it is TRULY the case that anything south of the city center is unsafe. I get the impression that some of these opinions have to do with race, and possibly the fact that some may have a different mentality of what makes them feel unsafe or uncomfortable. The way some speak about this place reminds me of how people here in LA talk about Compton, which really is known by ALL as a scary place that I would never under any circumstances visit. Is this area of Dallas really as bad as they make it sound?
I currently live in the Miracle Mile/Hancock Park area of LA. There's a combination of apartments, multi-million dollar homes, and shopping. Here, if you go a few blocks east or south and it can get less desirable. Even still, in this sought after neighborhood, I see just as many homeless people sleeping on bus stop benches or collecting recyclables in their carts. One of the residents in the apartment complex we currently live in is suspected of dealing drugs. Plenty of other undesirable things happen here that come with living in a central part of town. This doesn't make me feel unsafe...it is just a part of city life.
We have our eyes locked on a lovely historical house, in the South Blvd/Park Row neighborhood just East of the 45 and South of the 30 Freeway. I believe It's near the Forest Theater. Every home in this neighborhood looks well kept with nicely manicured lawns and landscaping. It shows the neighborhood crime rate as low on Trulia, but with a higher crime rate in the surrounding areas. Is it considered up and coming?
We will most likely be doing our shopping in Highland/University Park because that's where the Trader Joe's is and is of course, the nicer part of town. But I wouldn't mind living in a cheaper area that is up and coming, if that is the case. Also, does anyone know about the resale value of these homes?
Any and all information will help. Please give answers based on facts and not race please! I've read some unfriendly posts regarding race in certain areas and that's just not how I base my opinions of safe/unsafe neighborhoods.
Thanks, everyone! :)
Two single females 30 ish in age are looking for a decent priced hotel (100ish) with a fun night life near by. Walking if possible. Any suggestions it's for tomorrow night?

I am heading to Dallas in April for a girls weekend. We will be attending the ACM's 50th Anniversary Show at the Cowboy's Stadium. We are wondering where the best place to stay is? We are all in our mid/late 20's. Looking for an area close to some good night life and safe enough to walk around. We have our own vehicle so transportation to and from the stadium is not an issue for us. Should we stay right in Arlington near the stadium or closer to downtown Dallas? Thanks for any help!!!
Hello there!we are going to Dallas this October for a couple of nights and it's our first time there so we were wondering if it's safe to stay in downtown? And what are the best places to visit? What would you recommend? thanks a lot in advance ;)
Is there a museum that showcases Tv's and radios? if not in Dallas, in the vicinity.
Hey Metroplex residents. Two years ago I relocated from Fort Worth to New Jersey. The last time I was in the Dallas area, I couldn't get anywhere without a car. And while living in Fort Worth, I never discovered the DART light rail.
This October I'm traveling back to Dallas for an event at the American Airlines Center. I know for a fact that the DART light rail can take you right to the arena. Also, I found out that the DART Orange Line will be extended all the way to DFW Airport come August.
Currently, I plan to fly into DFW Airport and stay at the Hyatt Regency on airport property. I could then ride the DART Orange Line from DFW Airport to the American Airlines Center, and from the arena back to the airport.
Since I do not wish to rent a car, I figure that taking advantage of the DART Orange Line would be my best option.
Could I rely on the DART Orange Line to get me from DFW Airport to the American Airlines Center, and vice versa?
Will I still need a rental car even with this upcoming extension of the DART Orange Line to DFW Airport?
Does anybody know of any tours going in the evening from Downtown Dallas to Billy Bob's Rodeo Plaza, Ft. Worth & returning at night ?
Alternatively, what would be the cab fare from Fairmont Dallas to Billy Bob's Rodeo Plaza in Ft. Worth ?
Thanks for any help offered.
My two brothers, my father and I will be visiting the Dallas area this coming June for a long weekend. We will be catching a few baseball games and are wondering what is the best location to stay for tourist attractions. We will have a car to get to the ballpark so we are more concerned with staying in a good location in terms of tourist attractions, good atmosphere, and getting the best overall feel for Texas. After doing some research I'm kind of confused if I should be looking just right in downtown Dallas, or if something like Market Place or West End is better? Thanks for the help!
What bus, train, etc. would I take to get from Sherman to Dallas? I will be teaching at Austin College (Sherman) this summer + would like to take advantage of some quick site seeing in Dallas on weekends. Thanks for your response(s).
I will be in Dallas the last week of April with my almost 2 year old daughter. She has her 1 year follow up with her surgeon from her cranial vault reconstruction. The appointment is on a Monday and we will fly in on Saturday morning. We are looking for something fun for a 2 year old to do. Does anyone have any suggestions? We live in a city that has one of the best zoo's in the country so maybe something besides a zoo. We stay in North Dallas near Medical City hospital. If that helps any....
I am traveling to Dallas, TX for a weekend should I rent a car?
I live east of dallas and fly out of DFW every week. I have a 126 mile drive from my driveway to express parking. I usually leave my house @ 5:00 am and have no problem catching a 10:00 flight. I am thinking about an 8:00 flight which would mean getting to the airport by 7:00 am. I drive thru Greenville down 121 thru mickinney on to the airport with only a little traffic. So NOW MY QUESTION... What time does the traffic usually begin to back up on 121 on monday morning?
A group of girlfriends (mature) are planning on a weekend to visit the Arboretum, we would like a nice hotel close by.
Any suggestions please ?
