Need help with choosing self-catering accomodations  (1 Answer)

Hi there,
We are looking to stay in Co. Meath for a week from July 2nd to July 9th with our two kids, ages 2 and 10. We are looking for self-catering accomodation. We want somewhere that would be central for touring Newgrange, Castle Trim etc. but also an under 2 hour trip to Belfast. We also want somewhere from where we can get a train or bus into Dublin easily since we don't want to drive in the city. We have narrowed it down to three different places:

The Courtyard Holiday Home in Bettystown
The Anchorage Apartments also in Bettystown
And, Knightsbrook Holiday Homes in Trim.

Can anyone tell me anything about this places or even recommend another?
With thanks,
Janet

Travelling to Trim Castle from Dublin city centre  (2 Answers)

We are from Dublin and we are planning to visit Trim Castle. Can anyone please help me on how to travel to Trim castle? Which bus should we take or should we use the Irish rail? I've been searching google, but can't find help.

Hope anyone can help me. Thank you!

Ceist ar Ráth Cairn :-)  (5 Answers)

A couple of us are thinking of heading up to the Ráth Cairn Gaeltacht from Dublin next Saturday in preparation for our Oral Irish exam next Tuesday. (aaaah!!)

We are actually finding it pretty difficult to find any information at all about the place. From what I can see, it only a small little village out by Athboy, so OK, we're not expecting a big Gaeltacht metropolis like Spiddal ;-))

I know Ráth Cairn is a recognised Gaeltacht but if the only place where we can practise our Irish there is in some language school, then it would just be a waste of time going there.

Really, all I'm asking is whether it would be worth the trip, are we definitely likely to hear Gaeilge being spoken out in the street, in pubs/cafes in "real life"? Given us poor NUIM students' time/money constraints, not all of us can just head off to Connemara or Dingle for the whole weekend :(
