We will be in Ireland for 3.5 days the first of June with our 16 year old twin grandchildren, 1 boy and 1 girl. We will fly into Cork and out of Dublin.
Help! How and what should we do??? Do we rent a car in Cork?? What do we see in Cork before traveling on?? I am totally at a loss.
I am spending a week in Ireland (for the first time)& staying 3 nights in Dublin & 4 nights in Cork. I am afraid this is a bad choice (Cork) as we only have a rental car 1 day & I understand Cork is a big city. Would we better served to stay in a smaller village like Killarney, Kenmare, or Kinsale? I want the 'real Irish experience' and am afraid I will miss it if I stay in big cities all week. Also, I'm afraid it will be expensive to travel by train or bus to all the lovely country destinations from Cork. We are on a big budget. Please help! Where should I stay?
I am going on holiday to Cork for a week in February (10th - 17th) and I was wondering if there were any sporting events on at that time. I must admit I would like to see either some hurling or some Gaelic football, although I read somewhere that the hurling team were on strike due to management issues. Has this been resolved and if it has where would I go to watch a live match?
I would also be interested in knowing whether there is a New Age shop of some sort in Cork and where that may be too?
Thanks for any help
Hello-I will be staying in Knocklong, Limerick, which will be our base and travelling by day trips by car to the west coast, Dingle Peninsula,
Ring of kerry, southern coast - Cobh, and one day in Dublin by train. Where are the best ruins to see? I think it may be too far to go to the Hills of Tara and other locations in Meath and Louth, althought that sounds like the prime really old historic areas. We are just taking a train into Dublin for the day, and trying to cut costs, so we don't really want to stay over---but, I don't want to miss whatever is really spectacular. We are flying into Shannon 6/21. Thanks.
Hi, My relatives were from Boherbue, near Kanturk, Cork. Can't find a parish near there. I am looking for cemetaries where I might find graves of relatives.
Also, anyone know of really old churches in/near Knocklong, County Limerick, that may still have mass on Sundays? Or where I might look for such?
Hi. My grandfather's family was from a small village in County Cork that I cannot find on a map. It was Borabie, or Bouraghbee or something like that. Also, we will be travelling to Ireland and staying in Knocklong, County Limerick, and wish to take trips by public transportation -- buses, trains, to the west coast and to Cork area, maybe to the North also. Is it easy to get around this way, without a car? Only staying one week. What should we do? I want to see beauty and old ruins, and have peace & quiet. I live on Cape Cod so I wouldn't might skipping the tourist traps. Would love any input. Thanks.

Hi, I am going to Ireland for a week this winter and I am planning on spending one night and about two days in County Cork. I am interested in Kinsale because I have heard it is quaint and picturesque. However, I will be there in January so I was wondering if there will be more going on in Cork City. Does anyone have any recommendations for whether to stay in Kinsale or Cork City?

I am a New Yorker, and I've been taking trains around Europe since June 14. I don't have enough money left to keep traveling, so I decided to settle down and spend the duration of my trip (about 3 weeks) in County Cork.
I am looking for something to do while I'm there, something to get involved in, such as a music/theatre/dance festival where I can help out and maybe get a place to sleep for free. Does anyone know of anything cool going on from around July 21st to August 12? I'm looking for an interesting and cheap (free) experience, hopefully with a steady place to stay. Any ideas?
Hi, I'm doing some prelim research before starting a job search before planning to move to Ireland for a couple of years. I want to find thier website. Thanks!

We are travelling to Ireland next month. Flying into Shannon but travelling to Cork to meet with friends. I've tried to find some backpacking tours out of cork that travel up the west coast of Ireland- Like the "paddywagon" tours out of Dublin but I can't seem to find any -
Does anyone know of one or is there no demand in Cork for these tours?
Doese everyone travel to Dublin to get them???
I have friends coming to visit me over Paddy's weekend from Amsterdam. Looking for touristy things to do. Already decided on Fota, Cobh, Kinsale, Blarney Castle, and Finbarrs Cathedral. Want to stay with in an hours drive of the city, so West Cork and Youghal are out.
Am I missing anything? Just can't think of any other touristy things to do and I would like to keep them entertained for 3 days.
Thanks in advance!
I need your help.
A team of over 35's is coming to Cork from Liverpool for the weekend and had arranged to play a game of football in Cork on Saturday 4th March 2006 with the Dublin blues, but they can’t raise a team.
Is there any way you can contact a team to play us? If you can't can you put me in touch with someone, who can help get a team for us to play against on that Saturday morning or afternoon. We need something to do to keep us off the ale for a few hours.
Thanks. Steve Jones.
