I need to get from Cluj Napoca to Munich in mid July and I'm a budget backpacker. I can't find out if there are any bus routes to Munich from Cluj and I have no idea how much train tickets will cost. All the flights are too expensive. If anyone has any idea about train or bus/coach routes then I'd be sooo grateful. Thanks, tom g
carries times and details for almost all European trains, in English.
It will give you times for the long journey from Cluj Napoca, although not fares.
You can probably get a rough idea of the cost from www.raileurope.com but remember that this is an agency and adds commission: buying your ticket at a Romanian station will be cheaper than whatever Raileurope quotes.
The Romanian railway website:
has an English link and contact tab (you could perhaps email them?) but it is not working for me at the moment.
There is apparently at least one direct bus, operated by this company: http://www.eurotrafic.ro/en/index.php. A ticket costs about 80 euros.
You could also use Eurolines http://www.eurolines.com/ (with one bus change, I think), a ticket is about 75 euros.
Both these prices are rather expensive, you'll certainly find some cheaper alternatives by bus after you get to Cluj, just ask around.
A 2nd class train ticket between Cluj and Munich is about 90 euros on the shortest route (as far as I know).
You could also fly with the low cost airline WizzAir from Cluj to Dortmund and then make your way to Munich from there.
Wizz Air has a flight from Cluj to Dortmund for as low as 69 Ron, about35 I think. From Dortmund to Munich you have a lot more choices for transportation and it's a very nice area to visit too.
as the felows mention there is fly CLUJ NAPOCA - DORTMUND with wizzair and then you can look for chip way till munich, I see on the net that airberlin fly from Dusseldorf to Munich, I dont know the price but you can have a look:
ok now I see ather alternativ, direct train:
BUDAPEST - MUNICH
"Limited available discount one-way tickets from 29 EUR"
look at the hungarian train schedule:
for example at 15/07/09 you have 3 direct trains:
1. DEP' 07:10 ARR' 14:31
2. DEP' 13:10 ARR' 20:34
3. DEP' 21:05 ARR' 06:15
from cluj napoca to budapest you can do it by bus, for price and schedule:
for the moment I dont see but as I remember it shuld cost 70-80 lei lass then 20 euro for one way.
also you can look on this company :
they have 3 daily bus but 2 of them to budapest airport
and one to "HU Budapest OrangeWays bus station - Stadion FTC Népliget"
this bus dep at 22:45 and arr 05:30 price for one way is 4900 hungarian forint that is 18 euro.
good luck ( - :
