So I am an adventurous single gringo heading to Cartagena this Sunday, May 1. I am looking for the places to enjoy the nightlife that are not tourist destinations. I am not interested in clubs that play music I can hear in the US, I want lots of Salsa and Merengue, right now it looks as if the Calle Arsenal has the best chance after reading the reviews. I am open to new ideas always. Caribbean activities like scuba jetski and the like are of no interest to me(lived in St. Thomas in the USVI for 18 months, been there, done that, got the tshirt). Cartagena will satisfy my thirst for history and architecture but I want to know the nightlife best of the best, not the touristy glitz prevalent in so many tropical destinations. Thanks to all in advance for your advice and opinions.
