I am trying to find accommodation in Saas-Fee for the following dates 28 Dec 08 to 1 Jan 09, but I cannot find a single place online that seems to be available for those dates. I have come across the following messages - term of stay needs to be longer (7 or 10 nights), the day of arrival (Sunday) is not a check-in day. Unfortunately due to our schedule and time-constraints we cannot extend the length of our stay, or change dates. My dilemma - what to do? We really wanted to spend these last days in a ski-resort. Have I left it too late to find accommodation? Can anyone recommend another place - we are flying out of Geneva on the 1st January so it needs to be within a half-days travel distance.
Thanks in advance,
I am going to travel on trenitalia from Milan to Zermatt through Brig. According to the schedule I need to transfer to The Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn. The guide says it is a 7 Minute walk from the Brig stop on trenitalia to the Brig MRB train but I cannot find a map or directions. Can you give me more exact info? Is it in the same station? Is a map avaialable?
I’m very sorry to post the question again, I did post it already in the Vaud section and had great help, I just thought I may get even greater help/opinions from those who actually live in Valais and near the Italian border (Aosta Valley). So, my query:
I could end up doing many times every month the route Lausanne-Milan with an ordinary car (VW Passat), and I need an IMPARTIAL opinion about the possible routes towards Italy and particularly their condition and practicability IN WINTER (snow, rain, fog, etc...): the Grand S.Bernard pass and tunnel, the E29 once passed Martigny, the routes along the Aosta valley and possibly alternative routes like the E62 from Brig to Domodossola.
I've been told I could manage it in roughly 4hrs but as I said I'd be glad if I could have an impartial confirmation about the winter bit! Anyone done it or know someone I could contact to have more info?
(Train won’t be a total hasslefree option since I’m staying 20km from Lausanne and final destination would be 40+km from Milan central station, then transport to and from departure and arrival would affect my journey both at departure and especially arrival).
Ta very much in advance to those who might be able to help.
I am travelling from Innsbruck to Susten next week, does anyone know the best way, we are travelling in a motorhome we will probably have to take a care train if quicker, has anyone done this route, please help.
I was wondering how to get to Grachen. We are traveling by train Nov.5 from Zurich and plan on spending 2-3 days in the Zermatt area. Is there bus or taxi service from one of the stops as you approach Tasch? Any info on rates as well. Thanks
I'll be driving from Montreux to Zermatt and then Lucerne on 10-12 Jun 04. With most, if not all the passes like Grimsel and Furka closed during this period, can anyone tell me what's the best possible route to Lucerne without heading west and making the big loop up north? The Brig-Kandersteg car-rail option is closed during this period too. I know the following question is going to sound terribly strange....but as I've no idea what these routes are like, can someone tell me if the roads are still passable even if the above mentioned passes are closed?
