Can someone provide contact info for taxi service in Calabria that could provide transportation from Reggio Calabria airport to Bianco?
Hello, I am just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for good local car hire companies from Lamezia Terme?
I have previously had good experiences in southern Europe using reputable local firms instead of big European/US companies
Thanks in advance!
Hello dear travels,
in AUG we (my wife, 2 kids and I) would like to visit south Italy (Napoli, Calabria, Bari,...). We are planning to camping in 3-4 camps and we will travel with our own car. I heard on south of Italy currently have a big problems due to many refugees and it is quite dangerous to travel in those days. Some says that refugees are hiding in camps, on turist points,... I doubt about such info, but my family (especially wife) refuses to go on vacation there, so I would like to ask someone who has travel in last 2 monts there, if pls advise about this situation.
Regards from Slovenia :)

Hi, does anybody know how long a drive it is from Bovalino to Reggio? We were looking to stay in Bovalino and make a full day of travelling along the coast on E90/SS106, visiting various places along the coast, then stay in Reggio that night. Would this be too long and/or too much to see for one day or is there a place along the way worth staying the night?
Our plan is to pick up our car rental at FCO as soon as we arrive from our flight from NY at 9AM, hopefully have lunch somewhere in the Amalfi Coast, stroll around for a couple hours and resume our way to Consenza. Is it too daring to tackle these narrow streets with our 2 toddlers in the car (diapering, feeding stops)? It will be August 5th and we understand traffic might be really bad this time of the year.
Hello. I have family in Ventiimiglia and family in Oppido Mamertina. I want to fly into Nice, France late June, to see my family in Ventimiglia. Then I want to go to from there to Reggio first week of July for la festa in Oppido Mamertina.
I'm trying to figure out the cheapest way to get from Ventimiglia to Reggio. Flights are really expensive. I was thinking train but will probably lose an entire day and not sure if that will cost any less.
Any advice? Thanks in advance!
best way to get from lamezia terme airport and reggio airport to gioia tauro. which is more convenient? is there train service? thanks

Hi, My Partner and I are going to travel to South Italy in mid- September. We plan to fly into Naples (as there are no other flights south of here from Ireland) and then get the train south from here. We are looking for a nice hotel with pool and near a nice sandy beach with a town with good authentic restaurants. If anyone could offer some guidance on this that would be great. anywhere within 3 hrs south of Naples would be ideal.
Im going away with a friend to Calabria next May and wondered if there is any night life in the area. My friend isnt keen on 'partying' but I most definitely am, so I woukld like to find a 'happy medium' for us both to enjoy our stay in the region.
Also, we are planning a trip for the beginning of May and Im concerned the weather may not be warm.
Any input will be gratefully received.
Thanks, Yvonne x
Is there a shuttle between Lamezia Terme airport and the Lamezia Terme train station? If so, any information on how often it runs, etc?
I was wondering if any members were familiar with Botricello.
It is on the east coast of Calabria not too far from Catanzaro.
Will be moving there to live in the next year or so. It has a train station, has anyone tried the train from Lamezia to Botricello or any advice on getting there would be appreciated.
We are from Scotland.
Thanks in anticipation.
I was in Cosenza in summer 2008, visiting some family friends. Now, I don't speak Italian and they don't speak English, but we were getting by. They were telling me and my husband about some mountain, where, on a clear day from the top you could apparently see both coasts of Italy.
If this is real, what is the name of the mountain? Or did we just misunderstand them?
We're going back in September, which is why I ask.
Thank you, Beausoleil for your info! I greatly appreciate it.
I want to visit my grandmother's hometown of Montauro. Any info on sights to see there or surrounding areas would be most appreciated. Mille grazie!
Does anyone know of any airlines offering direct flights to London from Calabria? Seems ryanair isnt offering it any more.
Does anyone know anything about the town of Cutro? Since Cutro is my family name,I would be interested in visiting both the town of Anzi in Basilicata where my family actually came from as well as Cutro in Calabria since the town's name is the same as my family name.
What is the best way to get there ? Are there any nice beach front B&B,s or hotels near there?
We are thinking of taking our holiday in Calabria next year and would appreciate it if anyone is able to recommend any nice apartments by the sea(with pool) in the region.
I would be really grateful for help with this as we have never been to the area before.
Look forward to your replies.
I am going to stay in a small village somewhere in Cosenza for two weeks in August. Below is a list of some of my holiday interests in no particular order. Please feel free to give any sensible suggestions. My forum title lists the questions I would like to ask. Also, I will be driving in Calabria and I would appreciate any suggestions from anyone as long as they are related to the Calabrian region. Relevant names, locations and or street names would be highly appreciated.
1. Restaurants (Nice food with a nice price)
2. Markets ( Where are the best ones? I love the hussle and bussle)
3. Beaches ( Any recommendations and why?)
4. Architecture (Lively areas worth a visit)
5. Festa's or carnivals in August
6. Any tours of places of interest whether they be official or unofficial
7. The usual touristy stuff (what not to miss and what to definately miss)
Thanks to anyone who replies especially if you can answer all seven questions.
Hi, I'm flying in to Rome (Campania)and need to travel by bus to Loreto Aprutino in Abruzzo. Can anyone help with the name of the company that would do this trip?
I'm a young Canadian female who will be traveling throughout Southern Italy in mid-September. I'm wondering what is the safest way to get from the Atrani/Sorrento area to Tropea for a couple nights stay in what looks like paradise. :-) I'm completely open to buses/trains and transferring, even ferries if anyone knows of ways. I tried Trenitalia but everytime I tried to find out the different regions, I keep getting to the Italian website :S
Also, if any of you know the best way to get from Tropea to Reggio di Calabria, it would be much appreciated!
Thanks and greetings from Canada.
