they use to be expensive as most of them are imported

no it is not, at home you really pay less the same item, of course I don't mean china stuff.

I would be very surprised to get my very difficult prescription without paying a LOT extra. For an average prescription, perhaps . . .

in South America > Argentina > Distrito Federal > Buenos Aires usually you get the prescription free of charge with your insurance plan but you have to pay yourself your glasses, in some cases maybe the insurance would pay part of, surely not branded, glasses. A foreigner with no insurance plan so has to pay all.

Meat would cost less than cheese, wine cheaper than beer; but most of glasses are imported and like everything imported is rather expensive in Argentina, I found also that lately prices are going up more than usual.
