We were in Brugge 7 years ago and enjoyed it a lot, and love the beers. We are going again for 5 nights this September. Can any kind member give me an idea of what prices to expect to pay in € for good beers in the well know bars such as Le Garre, Brugs Beertje, Cambrinus etc? I know beer prices often depend on alc% strength, but we would just appreciate some idea so we know how much money to take!! Replies greatly appreciated, thank you! John
The best possible place for this question is the Burgundian Babble Belt, whose message board is inhabited by regular and enthusiastic visitors to those exact bars!
Find them here:
Best of luck, and happy drinking.
I was there last year and remember drinks being on-par with the UK; you just get smaller glasses, sometimes snacks, and stronger beer! Couldn't get into Brugs Beertje due to odd opening hours.
Now buying from supermarkets was significantly cheaper than the UK, if you're taking a car I would really recommend stocking up at a supermarket. Bottles were less than €1.
Thanks to all for your help and replies, will check the other web pages. We are travelling by Eurostar, and thus wont really have chance to bring back many bottles! Like Germany beer is always so much cheaper from supermarkets! With the £ being stronger against the € right now, think we may find the beer prices reasonable in comparison to UK bars. We know the Brugge Bar scene well from spending a week there in 2005, but just wanted to check if prices had increased a lot or not - though of course we expect to pay more for the stronger beers, but we love them!! thanks John
As a guide in the bars you are referring to and other bars away from the centre:
Draft beer in a 20cl - 25cl measure(Stella, Jupiler and the like) approx €2
Bottled beers (Westmalle, Duvel and the like) approx €3.5
If you drink on the bars around the Markt up these by about 50%.
I hope that helps.
