Boulder

Similar town to Boulder out there?

Hi All,
I was in the USA last summer and spent a few days in Boulder Colorado.
I absolutely loved it there. I am heading back to the US this summer and I was hoping somebody could reccomend a similiar town thats not too big, has great things to do outdoors and also has good nightlife.

Thanks for your suggestions,
Cam

Hi Cam,

I recommend Moab, Utah. The scenery is amazing and there are plenty of outdoor adventure possibilities. Arches and Canyonlands National Parks are close, and the Colorado River flows by the north end of town. It would be best to have a car to explore the parks and surrounding areas... This is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. Activities in the area include hiking, mountain biking, canyoneering, 4 wheeling (ATV/jeep/hummer), white water rafting/kayaking, hot-air ballooning, and horseback riding. As far as nightlife, there are a few breweries and bars, but probably not to the extent of what Boulder has. I'm not too familiar with Boulder having only been there for a few hours many years ago... The Moab area is one of my favorite places!

Portland, Oregon, has great nightlife and has opportunities for hiking, bicycling, running, kayaking. There's a lot of natural beauty there, too.

Taking note that you like outdoor activites and in the mountains I would suggest you take a look at Park City, Utah. The City is smaller than Boulder and not a college town. Park City is a big winter resort area but during the summer it also has a lot of things to do and there is a great night life even during the summer. They also hosted the Winter Olympics with Salt Lake a few years back.

You got some good answers to your question.
Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Durango, Colorado
Sedona, Arizona (close to Grand Canyon, too.)
Ashland, Oregon
Santa Fe, New Mexico
These all have good hiking areas, etc.
If you choose any of these, write back and I can add more.
