Hi, we are considering Borovets this year. We are non-skiers but enjoy tobogganing. It is mentioned as an activity in Borovets and I was hoping someone could tell me what facilities there are for togoganniong there.
Hi, to be honest, there are very limited facilities for tobogganing in Borovets. There is just the lower part of the ski slope "Cherveno Zname" (a black run) designated for toboggans/sledges. Some of the cafes at the base of the slope offer free use of sledges to their customers which is aimed at, and mainly taken up by, children. There are no safety measures in place, no netting, warnings or supervision. Accidents can and do happen, mainly to poorly supervised children. People crash into the wooden fence at the bottom or into the metal upright of a barrier at the bottom, sometimes they spin off their sleigh and crash into others, the main danger is in icy or freeze/thaw conditions. Having said that, lots of well-supervised children in good snow conditions have a lot of fun on the slope.
