What language do people in Bitam speak?
Do you perhaps mean BINTAN Island?
If so the official language is Bahasa Indonesian, but English is spoken at resorts and hotels. Most islanders understand some English as well.
Bitam is a city in North Gabon
According to the Summer Institute of Linguistics, there are dozens of tribal languages in Gabon, with a few thousand to hundreds of thousands of speakers...BUT, the official language of the country is French(!) - see ethnologue.com/show_country....
I have no personal knowledge of the situation, but I'd say it likely that educated people there speak French, and people in travel speak French and English...
My apologies- it could have been a typo I thought.
Well, given that just today, someone posted a question about Dover, England, in the Dover Oregon (or wherever) forum, I wouldn't feel too badly about it ;-)
For myself, I hadn't a clue where Bitam was, so I clicked on it and found that the VT database thought it was in Gabon...I hope it is ;-)
