I am in Birmingham for almost 2 days. I am an adult male and would love to get ideas of the best things to see in that short time? I prefer not going to regular museums, churches etc. Thought maybe different sights, views, nature etc. I definitely would go to Bournville to Cadbury World. Can anyone give me suggestions of what cannot be missed when in around Birmingham area?
Going to birmingham on Saturday for the day was just wondering if someone could please tell me the best place to go for breakfast!!
Hi - my son and his friend are going to the Wireless festival in Perry Park from 4th July to 6th July. He doesn't want to take a car so is looking for a reasonably prices hotel ( £50 per night) that he can get to by public transport from Perry Park. So transport needs to be running at say 11.30pm on the Friday and Saturday Night.
Nothing decent available in the centre of Birmingham but still availability in Edgbaston (Hagley Road).
Does anyone know if buses run fairly late along the Hagley Road? if so, are they safe?
Thanks for any help?

Have just booked airport parking online and the price has come up as £0.00 for 2 weeks meet and greet. so followed booking through, put in payment details still a price of £0.00. Even had a confirmation booking email for £0.00 which includes Booking Ref and dates timings etc. Obviously there is some sort of balls up on their booking system!!! So will they have to honour my booking or will they f... me off if I rock up at the airport expecting free parking.
My Korean inlaws are arriving at Birmingham Airport late on Friday 2 August. They booked into the Etap Airport Hotel (soon to be IBIS). It looks to be a short walk from the arrivals hall, but a walk that could be complicated in the dark, to jet lagged travellers with limited English. I've looked at Google maps and Bing, but I've found it difficult to work out the exact route. has anyone done this walk? many thanks, GIChuck

Does anyone know if one can park for 12 hours in the village of Bickenhill which is nearby? The official parking lots are all 4.5 miles away, you have to wait for transfer buses which only come every 30 minutes, so I am trying to find my own solution. Thanks for any tips,. Stefan
I'm an exchange student from Vancouver, Canada who's moving to Birmingham soon. I'll be living in Edgbaston and I was wondering what the best way to get around town is for a student (mostly from Edgbaston to the main shopping area and Broad Street) (ie. is there a certain bus pass or metro pass that I can buy for the term?). Thanks in advance

Any one have any tips on getting from Birmingham to Dublin by rail & ferry?
Traveling to Birmingham from the USA for a long weekend to attend the Aston Villa V Manchester match. Will be flying into the Birmingham International. So, we need something that is close to a rail station for easy/fast transportation and hauling of bags. We would like a fun, safe & reasonable priced central area.
Easy travel to Birmingham New Street Rail Station would be good also. (We are thinking about taking the rail/ferry to Dublin later and it leaves from the New Street Rail Station.)
So, I'm going to be travelling to Birmingham on business in the next couple of weeks, but I have to find my own accommodations. I'd like to find a hotel that's reasonably cheap and close by the airport. I found one site, ./, that lists hotels right by the airport, but of course hotels are always different. Does anybody have any personal experience with the hotels on that site? They seem to be mostly chains; are they good representations of the chains they are named after?
Also, how bad does traffic tend to be in Birmingham? I don't even really know much about the city. Should I look into renting a car or am I better off with public transport?
On a wander around birmingham at the weekend I spent ages looking at all the fab measurements on what looked like a massive brass scale ruler inset in to the ground - also other little brass squares with links and numbers on them - can anyone tell me what these are, what they were for etc?
Does anyone out there know if there is a Celtic Supporters Club in Birmingham and if they are showing the Scottish Cup Final this afternoon or of anywhere I might be able to watch the game. On the train to Birmingham and looking forward to the Villa Liverpool Match tomorrow.
