I will be on holiday with my wife in California this summer and I wondered whether I need to book accommodation in advance around the July 4th holiday. I'd prefer to be flexible but wouldn't like to run into the problem of finding everything fully booked.
Hi, I live in L.A. and can pretty much guarantee that everything up and down the coast WILL BE booked. I strongly suggest you make arrangements beforehand! Best of luck.
I agree with the previous poster. There aren't that many places to stay in Big Sur anyway. I love Deetjin's Big Sur Inn. Be sure to have lunch out on the deck at Nepenthe.
As stated Big Sur is sure to be fully booked, try the north side in Carmel Valley or south in Cambria. No matter it is best to have a reservation no matter where you stay around July 4th.
If you have a problem move inland a short distance and look for a place. Not as nice of an area but still not far from the coast. You should be able to find a place in Salinas, Soledad or along Hwy 101.
The message is clear - we'll book!
Thanks everybody for your reactions and tips
