I booked a room with Hotel Königsseer Hof, I would like to know if it is convenient for travelers with luggage to take bus from Berchtesgaden to the hotel?
Hi! I am trying to "lock in " a 3 night stay somewhere after leaving the Garmish area and before heading back to the airport in Munich. Berchtesgaden and the Konigssee area look absolutely breathtaking and I would love to go there, but, I am a little worried because it will be early April and I wonder if perhaps I should save that area for another visit during the summertime. I am planning on renting a car and some people have told me it could be very foggy and I definitely don't want to be driving if that is the case. Does anyone have any opinions on that? Or do you think it's not that big of a deal driving-wise and it is still a worthwhile 2-day stay, even in early April. Thank you so much in advance.
Is the Eagles Nest open in November & December months (if the weather is good)?
I'll stay in Salzburg and travel to Berchtesgaden for one day. Planning to visit Konigssee, Jennerbah, (Eagle Nest), Salt Mine & Ramsau Village. As I'll travel at the beginning of May the Eagle Nest may not be open yet so likely will skip it, do you think I make the rest in one day or where should I go or not.
We visited Berchtesgaden in June, and absolutely loved it. A few of us went for a walk and found this wooden walkway along the side of the mountain above the town. There was a shrine of some kind (Possibly Catholic) and we have been wondering what it is. The wooden walkway is in pretty bad shape, but my son-in-law and grandson walked it as far as they could. Could you please tell me what it is. Thanks
I read something from a r timetraveler that got discounted t for youickets to the Konigsee boat trip from their hotel. Maybe something special just from that hotel. We have purchased a Salzburgerland card for our tie in Austria. Thank you
Are there coupon books giving discounts or free things to do around the area, like the Koningsee boat trip?
My plan is to drive to the Jennerbahn in the am from Salzburg. Ride the cable car up to the top station and walk up to the summit for a gorgeous view. After the ride down, we'd like to have lunch at the Echostuberl, followed by a boat ride on Lake Konigsee, to Salet including the walk from Salet to the Obersee and back. How much time should we allow to do the above ?
Will there be some time to spend in Berchtesgaden? Before returning to the outskirts of Salzburg for the evening.
I would appreciate any recommendations and/or experiences regarding a day trip to Koenigsee (from Berchtesgaden) and connect to the gondola to reach the top of the Jenner! How much time to allocate? ...Thank you
We arrive in Berchtesgaden at 1pm:
Is this still enough time to catch a bus up to the Kehlsteinhaus, to allow time there and also in the documentary centre? Where does the bus leave from : near the train station in Berchtesgaden?
When will the last bus go back down from kehlsteinhaus??
I would kindly ask some questions about Berchtesgaden hikes.
We ordered flights to Munich 29.7 and we are plannning to go hike to Berchtesgaden 3 day trip.
How can we get from Munich to to Berchtesgaden? With train or bus and what station do we get off? Where we can find the timetables for trains or buses?
Also where we should start the 3 day hike? Where do we get map of that area? We are in good physical shape and we would like to sleep at tents or if there is some lodges.
Thank you for the reply.
Best regards, Antti
I will be visiting Berchtesgaden in May 2013 and would like to hike with others who can speak some English. IS there anything planed or a group I can join?
I'm just looking for a bit of advice with regard to a day trip I want to make to Berchtesgaden in March.
I will be travelling from Salzburg by bus and ideally I would like to go to Dokumentation Obersalzberg and then on for the rest of the day to Konigssee and then back to Salzburg that evening.
First of all is this realistic to do this in one day?
I have no problem in being in Berchtesgaden early in the morning. Am I correct to say there is a bus directly to Dokumentation Obersalzberg?
Is there a bus from there onwards to Konigssee or would I need to return back to Berchtesgaden and get a bus from there?
Likewise from Konigssee do I need to return to Berchtesgaden in order to get the bus back to Sallzburg?
Thanks in advance for any replies:-)
My soon-to-be wife and I are planning to spend part of our honeymoon in Berchtesgaden in the beginning of August of this year. How accessible are hiking trailheads from town? Does anyone have any recommendations on where to stay? Many of the places seem pretty similar online. We would love to camp a night or two in the National Park. Are there places to rent camping gear? Would this be a practical option or would it be more advantageous to just do day hikes?
We also would really like to do some bike touring. Are there vendors in town with reliable road bikes? What would be an average price per day for that time of year? Do they offer any different pick-up/drop-off for longer destination cycling? Thanks for the help!
Three students going to Berchtesgaden for 4 nights at the end of May. We're looking for some cheap accommodation that is close to the community. So far we've just been able to find the Youth Hostel which seems to be a bit of a walk from the community centre. Are there any other suggestions of places to stay for 30 (?) euros or under per night per person?
i have booked this as a tour on my previous trip to Germany but for my forthcoming trip in May i was hoping to stay in Berchtesgaden and just pay for the bus ride up to the Eagles Nest. Does it operate daily? the tours seem to only operate on a monday and friday. i have found timetables etc but they dont specify if they run daily, any help is greatly appreciated, also any hotel reccomendations :)
Are the tunnels accessable during the winter months as well or only from May through October?
I'm trying to get information on visiting the "Eagle's Nest", but the information available is somewhat spread out and confusing.
From what I can piece together:
- Parking for my car at Obersalzberg parking lot: 2.50 Euros
- Bus to tunnel + elevator: 15 Euros per person
- The bus leaves the parking lot about every half hour (last bus - 16:00).
What I don't know is:
(1) How much time to budget for this?
(2) Is it possible to park my car at the parking lot and to walk up to the "Eagle's Nest (avoiding the 15 Euro fee)?
(3) If yes, how long does it take to walk to the top from the parking lot?
(4) Are there any other options?
I will be in the Berchtesgaden area of Bavaria next month.
Do German public phone allow one to RECEIVE calls and, if so, are the phone numbers usually posted on them? Thanks.
We will be spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Berchtesgaden Germany. Does anyone have advice on a festive place to enjoy Christmas dinner either night. We will be traveling with small children as well, so we would like to be festive and special.
i am going to bertchesgarden on nov 11 for 3 days
what is the weather like during this time.
also is it possible to walk up the mountain to the eagle nest at this time of year
Hi, Im planning on spending 10 days in Berchtesgaden next April. At the moment I was think of staying 2 nights in Berchtesgaden town itself to allow me to look around the town and surrounding area, aswell as walking to Obersalzburg one day.
I was then planning on going onto a campsite which is apparently 10mins from Lake Konigssee and spending the next week there hiking trails and spending time at the lake.
Does this sound like a sensible plan and are there any suggestions as to more activities or sights. (i.e. would you spend more time in the town maybe)
Is 1 day enough for both Konigsee + Eagles Nest??
We plan to be there on Monday 10.00 hours and start our journey to both attractions. Last bus to Eagles Nest is at 16.50 hours. What about it ?
Also please let me another one question : Usually, how is the wheather in the middle of July ?
Thank you in advance.
Would be travelling from Salzburg to Berchtesgaden. If there is a party of 4 people, would it be better value to get the Bayern ticket instead of a single day trip ticket for each individual? Can I use it for the local bus from Berchtesgaden station to the various popular sights.I read that the Bayern ticket can be purchased from the machine at Salzburg station, correct?
We will be in Germany in mid-May and would ike to go hiking in Bertchesgaden. Will it be very crowded? Is there a way to avoid the crowds, like staying somewhere else?
I intends to stay at Berchtesgaden for 1 night. I will go to Konigssee lake and the Mount Jenner (take trails). Would you recommend me to stay at the hotel near the main train station or near the Konigssee lake?
I'm doing a day trip to Berchtesgaden and want to visit : the salt mines, Eagles Nest, top of Mount Jenner, Lake Konigsee and St Bartholemew. Is it realistic to do all of this in one day? In which order - roughly - would you recommend?
i will be staying in zell am see next month and was planning on going to the eagles nest for a day trip. does anybody know how long a drive it is to get there also is there any other places of interest ie boat trips, spa's or the like when i am there.
