Do you think 60 minutes is enough for international transfer in Terminal 3 at Capital Airport?
I am landing at 12:25 and the connecting flight is at 13:25, so I have exactly 60 minutes.
We are good travellers visiting Beijing in July. Do I need a tour to see the wall, summer Palace etc or is it easy to do it yourself.
I'll be in Beijing for about 6 days beginning of April and just was a bit shocked when I saw the smog alert that is currently still being very high.
I didn't imagine it would still be that bad in March - so I was wondering about other tourists in Beijing and what precautions should be taken?
I bought a mask and understand that moving indoors is the best, but I also would like to visit temples and parks and not just museums. So maybe someone who has recently been there or is still traveling there could give me advice on the present situation.
I'm traveling on my own and thought of booking a tour to the Great Wall / Ming Tombs from Beijing. I guess this can be combined for one day. I just checked some agents and saw that it costs about 100-200 USD per person just for one such tour.
This seems incredibly high to me. Are there any cheaper alternatives?
I'd even go there on my own, but I don´t know how easy it will be to get there.
I'll be staying at a hostel - is there a chance they will offer cheaper tours? What do you recommend?
I'd really like some feed back re travelling to China in April. It appears the weather may be cooler than what I was expecting? I'm planning to take CNY currency with me but am unsure as to whether I should also take $US as well. The CNY cannot be loaded onto my Travel Debit Card but $US can. I'm travelling from Australia. If you can think of any other tips please feel free to let me know!
Thanks ... KoalaB
What is the best way and price to get from downtown Beijing to Tianjin Port
Where can i get Sim card with data in BEIJING?
Do you know some website to rent a house in Beijing?

My dad and I plan to travel to Beijing. I am very much hesitant to join group tour as my dad walks slow requiring in between stops as such it will be difficult for us to follow the pace of tour. My dad would really like to visit the great wall and forbidden city. After much consideration, the best option is probably to hire a car with driver that will allow us the flexibility of time to follow his pace. I noticed from reading all the posts that there is very few drivers that can speak english. Would any one be kind enough to know any reputable travel company/ driver that offer such services? I am fine with limited english spoken by driver as long as he/she can follows the itinerary that we set along and meet us at meeting points within agreed times. I've been to Beijing before but this will be the first for my dad and plus he is a non english speaking person so a guide is probably will not be of much value to him.
On a separate subject, planning to take a night/sleeper train. How safe is it and will there be a separate luggage storage in the train or we simply fit all into the compartments (4 beds soft sleepers)? I recalled my train trip in India where we had to practically chain our luggage (as highly suggested by my Indian friends) to the rails nearing the berth where we were sitting.
How convenient it will be to bring wheelchair? He doesn't use it much but it will be more convenient for him to have when the distance to be covered is say more than 20 minutes walk.
Many thanks all before hand.
Does Beijing have a "tourist season"? How busy is it in November?
My wife and I have a 14 hr stopover in Beijing from 12am till 2pm.
Can anyone please recommend a cheap hotel near the airport. Also will it take a long time to get through customs.
is it ideal to book my train ticket on my arrival to beijing 3 days before departing to xian? or it has to be done online 15 days before? thanks
Any suggestions on travel(eg subway) and itinerary for a day trip to Summer Palace? I'm there in January 2013 - cold. Is ferry a possibility for part?
OR, best to take a tour/ guide?
I speak no Chinese. Can I get signs/voice overs in English on Shanghai/Beijing subway trains etc? Also, do streets have English names?
If not, is it worth catching subway? OR BEST TO USE A CAB with hand written instructions from my Hotel - I'm staying at Hyatt and they offer this but I like to travel local as locals do!!!
I have booked a tour which includes Juyongguan Great Wall. I heard it's a steep climb though my kids are already 10 & 12. Is this okay for them, as there seem to be no cable rides in this section? I am contemplating on passing the "compulsory tour" as it would of course include sidetrips to shops/tourist traps. Maybe we could go to Mutianyu instead or schedule another day for it...?
Thanks in advance.
it's difficult for me to organize 4 tickets for the train T 27 ( Beijing-Lhasa) on 07.05.2012.
What can I do? Can I book this ( the best a package:train-tickets, permit,guide and accommodation for 3-4 days in Lhasa) from germany at internet or only in Beijing after arrival (5.5.12).Is the time to short to organize?
Or a alternative with train to Lhasa?
I need advice for a budget hotel/youthhostel with flair and convenient in Bejing. We are 4 Person from germany. I am planing a one day trip to the Great Wall from Beijing. Which parts do you recommend me (i think 3 parts are doable in 1 day) ? From the pictures most interesting (and accesible from Beijing) looks these parts of wall - Badaling, Juyongguan, Mutianyu - what are your experience?
Another question is, which tour operator do you recommnend to this trip (considering the reputation and price) ?

Off to Beijing after Christmas for a few days (leave before new years), Just need a few idea`s,suggestions etc before I book any hotels.
I spoke to my friend who I am going with for Idea`s on what to do/what we want to see etc.
So first off, Looking for a nice 3*+ hotel in a good location, We want to do a day tour to see Major sights (Great Wall, Forbidden City etc)
For the other day, We want to just arrive, Check inn, have a walk down a Street Market for electronics etc and maybe a Food market to try some very nice street food, Big lover of Chinese food. Also in the Evening we would like to go to a few bars so similar to other city`s where there is a stretch of 10-15 bars and a few clubs.
Also, can anyone let me know what the average prices are for
* Beer/ Spirits
* Club Entry
* Street Food
* 2 Course meal in nice Chinese restaurant
* hotel prices per night

For those who have stayed in Tian'an Rega Hotel Beijing (Location: Dongcheng District, Beijing, ChinaAddress: Tianan Mansion Hualong Jie Nanheyan Street Dongcheng District, Beijing 100006), would appreciate if you can give me a review of this hotel. Thanks!
Looking for an alternative activity that doesn't involve too much walking for a day, came across the Longqing Gorge which sounds nice outside of Beijing, is it worth a trip out, sounds like you can do a boat trip of the gorge and dam. We are not doing the The Three Gorges Cruise so this may be interesting. Any suggestions or comments greatly appreciated on how to do it also would be great.
We have five days in Beijing coming up soon, having trouble with feet at the moment, will hopefully get to see all the main attractions but looking for something that will not involve so much walking that we can enjoy if we need to take a break for one day and do something else. Any suggestions.
Hi to all
I have searched accommodtion in Beijing to come down either the Novotel Peace Beijing or the Novotel Xin Qiao. On the map they only look about two blocks away from each other, and both close walking distance to Tianamen Square/ Forbidden City, but I have read differently. One is close to the subway. Would this be more beneficial to us? Anyone stayed in either of these or knows where they are and can advise me? We are arriving in June so it will be very hot.
Is there an Airport Bus that stops at InterContinental Beijing Beichen? This hotel is located at 8 Beichen West Road, Chaoyang District. Thanks.
