What's the best way to go to Batu Caves from Kuala Lumpur, and how much does it cost please?
Many thanks in advance
Taxis will get you for about MYR16 one way. The problem is securing taxis back to the city as it means you trying to catch one by the road. There are taxis waiting at the Caves/temple but these leeches were asking for MYR30.
I believe there are public buses to reach there as well but having not done that, I am not in any position to advise. Maybe the local KL VTers would be of better assistance.
xuessium is right.
Why don't you join a local bus tour??
Malaysian Tourist info told me that bus 11 leaves to the caves from Central market. Shame u missed Thaipusam which took place last sunday, it was truly exhilirating :o)
Is the VT meeting still taking place while u are here?
you can take the putra lrt to terminal putra (last station)... and then take a taxi or bus from there to the batu caves which is nearby... in this way, you will avoid the traffic jams thru the city... taxis are expensive as there is a cartel and they charge a (high) standard rate... to come back to the city and avoid being fleeced by taxi driver, i suggest that you take the bus 11... although it is probable more an hour's journey... or take a bus from the caves to terminal putra and back to the city by train...
I agree with Chia - take the LRT & cab/bus to go to Batu Caves. You can also check on this at the transportion tips on Batu Caves page as follows:
