We are travelling to France on 4th June to the 13th June , primarily to take part in the Pegasus half marathon on the 12th June , so already have booked our two nights in Caen on the 11th and 12th . We don`t know the region at all and wondering where to head to when we arrive by ferry at Caen for the start of our holiday . We have thought about Bayeux if this would be a good location to base ourselves or should we head further south maybe towards Mont st Michael for a few days .We plan to take in some of the D day sites , but would like to mix it up with maybe a cycle tour , walks , may be a flea market , happy to stay somwhere more rural or aTown .
Three of us are planning a trip to Basse Normandi for two-three days in late July from . I need your words of wisdom on how best to travel, where to stay (towns and hotels) and recommendations of tours.
Going to Normandy for the week around D-Day, and as my girlfriend has made plans for the evenings of june 5 and 6 I was wondering if anyone know of any interesting events on these 2 nights with access for the public? Preferably in the area of Omaha or Utah beach (I'm driving, so just in the vicinity).
Thanks in advance,
Going to Normandy (Deauville) from june 3-10, and have been looking for some shops selling campingequipment (sleeping bags, tents etc.) but with no luck - any locals who can point me in the right direction?
We will be all over the coastline while there, so it doesn't have to be limited to the Deauville-area.
Thanks in advance :-)
How do I get to Gavray from Paris (by bus? Or by train?
Is there public transportation to Beuvron-en-Auge from Caen/Deauville/Honfleur?
We are arriving in Paris (by plane) and then driving to a house near Creully.
The car will be full so we can't get any food shopping until we arrive which will be quite late, probably around 6pm. Can you help me find any supermarkets in the area that might be open late? It is just to get basics to see us through!
i need a bus from caen to ville les poels which is only 45 miles ! cant find one so far ! christin
Hi, anyone planning a trip to Normandy for the 70th D-Day anniversary? I am looking for fellow-travellers. The accomodation is already booked in a beautiful camping site on Juno beach, next to the sea. If you want to join, contact me: [email]
I've long been intrigued by the D-Day Invasion on June 6, 1944 and now have the opportunity to visit the Normandy Coast. Given that this is my focus, which community in the area would you recommend I stay in? If you have a particular establishment you particularly enjoyed, I'd love to hear of it.
Given the distances involved, I'm really thinking I should rent a car. From which place have you had a good experience doing so?
We will be staying near vire with 3 children (aged 5, 2 and 1). I have located 2 zoos nearby but does anyone have any further suggestions for places to visit which are children friendly?
My husband and I are staying in a cottage in Normandy soon - somewhere near-ish to Tinchebray.
Does anyone have any recommendations for must-do/see when we're there? I'm thinking a trip to Bayeaux and Caen are on the list, perhaps take a drive to see Monet's house (I know it's not really close).
Any info on Tinchebray or its environs - restaurants, supermarkets, etc - would also be most appreciated.
I'm going to go next Weekend in Normandie for a little tour of 4 days.I will arrive in Paris by plane and then I'll rent a Car for all the period,my first city will be Rouan. My only MUST is Mont-saint-Michel,but I don't know where to go and what trip make, can someone help me..?
Just discovered in July and August that campsites only rent out tents for 7 nights!!! We need accomodation for two nigths (one to two hours drive from Cherbourg) on the night of 7th and 8th July.
Am I in trouble, will I find somthing if so any ideas?

Can I catch a train from Charles De Gaulle airport to my destination or will I have to travel to Paris and change trains. If so, what train must I catch, station to disembark to continue my journey to Vire, I know its the Grandville line but thats all
I will be arriving in CDG on a Sunday/May 2012 to do self supported cycle trip (two traveling). Would like to take train immediately out to Pontorson (or another station close to Mont Saint Michel). I am having problems figuring out the train schedule and which ones we can take bike on. Would I need to take train from CDG into Paris and then out? Hoping to be able to depart from CDG by 4:00 pm. Suggestions?
Would like to get to Pontorson (or close by) Sunday evening – would that be possible with the train schedule?
Any recommendations for accomodations near MSM for two nights, bike friendly.
Then want to take train up to Saint Lo or CAEN Area - any suggestions?
Next, will I have any problems getting accomodations on VE day (May 8th) ? I was only planning on booking the first two nights of our trip.
Will be cycling the Normandy area for 8 days.
Where can I find gites in or around Bayeux for a family of five? Does anyone have any recommendations?
I will be in Normandie in early September.
Where in your opinion, is the best city/town to stay for 3 nights while exporing the beaches, sites, CDN memorial cemetry etc.
I was thinking Caen, as we are taking the ferry to Portsmouth after our visit, but know im uncertain. Any particular hotel as well?
This may seem a little a little off-topic, but I need a little help from brandy Connoisseurs. I bought a bottle of 15 year "Marquis de la Pomme" from a liquor boutique in Caen. When I got home, out of shear ignorance, I couldn't get the hard, black seal off without macerating the cork. With the cork totally destroyed, I have replaced it with your typical wine stopper. Taking under consideration it is made out some sort of rubber stopper material, do I need to find natural cork to retain the flavor and quality over a period of time?
We are interested in visiting the Camembert cheese factory. I was unable to find any information about the factory or their website. I would appreciate any info that you may have. I found info about the factory in Livable. ny other factory in the area would also be appreciated. I love the real french cheeses
We (Myself, the Wife and her Parents) are going to France this May and are presently building an itinerary.
We plan on spending 3 nights in Caen or nearby and doing a tour there, then staying at MSM for a night.
We've then got 3 days to get to Paris (driving) and would love some suggestions of places to visit/stay along the way, say 2 or 3 onvernight stops. Ideally i would love a tour of some wineries and i'd love to stay in a castle. I'd probably like to keep the driving to max of 4 hours a day if possible.
From what i've read Overlander or Battlebus are the better tours in Normandy?
I think we'll stay inside MSM for the night as the post-tourist experience sounds lovely, (i'll be sure to ask for a bayview room) however having read the food reviews i thought it might be better to have dinner off the Mont, any suggestions for a nice evening feed would be greatly appreciated. (i assume it's still safe to drive back across the causeway at hightide?)
Thanks in advance!
We are travelling down from Calais to Domfront on 23rd Dec and would like suggestions of possible route/stop offs along the way.
We stayed near Amiens in October and preferred to keep off the autoroute as much as possible and pass through smaller towns.
I know it will take longer this way but we have all day to get down to Domfront and would like stop every so often for lunch , coffee etc
Please could anyone tell me how to travel from Pris to Passais la conception and Paris to Longny au Perche. Thank you in advance.

One day in Le Havre on cruise ship - 7am - 8pm on July 13 (day before Bastille Day). We'd like to catch a local bus which would take us along the coast - either to the south or north and would really appreciate advice as to suggested routes and bus lines. (I've visited the war cemeteries and don't want to spend another day in tears).
Hope you can help!
Many thanks in advance.
