Hello, I will be visiting Bad Kissingen and Hammelburg soon to see where my ancestors lived 1600-1900. I would like to learn more about the history of the area and look for any information on my ancestors. We already have parish records, so we're looking for any other information that might tell us more about their lives here. We are looking for a historical society or archives. In addition we would like a tour guide who specializes in the history of the people in the area. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
My husband and I were stationed at Bad Kissingen from 1973 - 1977. We will be in Germany for two weeks and were thinking about making a little visit to a place we really enjoyed. We loved Shuberts, walking in the gardens, the little boat ride on the river. Will we find the city casual and welcoming to American tourists? Are the hotels fancy? Does the Post Coach still run to the Aschach Schloss? Are there outdoor concerts during the week?
