Australia

New traveler!

Hi! I'm planning a trip to Australia and i will be going alone but id like to go on an escorted tour. Can anyone recommend a good travel site/company to use for a beginner traveler, there are so many it's getting overwhelming.

P.S. any other helpful hints about Australia or traveling are welcome!

Hello and welcome to VT. This is a great place to get good advice.

I just want to tell you about the visas and paperwork needed to enter into Australia. Make sure to have everything ready. When we went there some years ago, it was really easy (coming from the e.u, I guess it depends on where you come from). Just follow what they say in their official site, and obtain your e.t.a(electronic travel authoritation).

About other things..there are enough local that probably will give you great advice. I envy you...Enjoy!

for us to be of definitive assistance, it would greatly help to know your age group, and where you are from (US??) as well as whether you are male or female (I presume the latter, based upon your ID photo).

ALSO, if you are open to travelling on your own, an idea of duration of travel would be helpful. Many on here may try to persuade you to go it alone; partially because it is SO MUCH CHEAPER to do so. But, there is nothing wrong with a group tour to start out, particularly when on your own.

For myself, I emiigrated from East Coast US to Australia by myself in late 60's when I was early twenties and then travelled thru Asia on my own several times for months at a time. Now as I am older, an occasional group tour has been exactly what I needed.....there are always personal preferences, but again, the cost is waaay apart. As I have not used a commercial group tour I don't have any specific recommendations, but there are a lot of good old companies who are reliable. Possibly if you mention a few to us it also would help; it's difficult for us to do all the work with little info from you, and otherwise you will get overwhelmed also from this website as people offer their info and opinions!

When you are packing for Australia be careful of food stuffs,,,no NUTS.
Read the entry card carefully and declare..'Drugs' include prescription drugs.

From my observations of many of the coach/tour companies, the 2 that seem to do it very well are Grayline and AAT Kings. Suggest you check out what they have available and go from there.

This company have been in business for a very long time, I did a tour of central Australia with them in the 80's which was excellent.Have known other people who have travelled with them since & had good experiences.Probably need a bit more information as to your interests & requirements to give a more personalized opinion.
here is their website;
aptouring.com.au/Destination...

Hope this helps & you have a wonderful trip
