I'm soon going to Assen. I'm 15 years old, what will you recommend for me, to see?
I need some advice on how to get from Groningen center to the TT Circuit in Assen. I plan to attedn the Motocross GP this weekend but I do not have a car.
Thanks for advices!
Is it safe to park your bicycle at the Assen Train station?
HI, I've been looking online at OBB to try and book a train from Centraal to Assen for the MotoGP but the website says Not Available for every train on 27th June.
Is this because they're all fully booked already?
My son and I are travelling to Assen for the Superbikes meeting this coming weekend and I'm trying to sort out the best way to get around and hoping to make things go as smoothly as possible as the trip is a present for his 40th birthday.. We are flying from London Southend airport to Groningen and then need to get to Assen - at least I think we need to go via Assen to get to our hotel, which is: Hotel Restaurant 't Klaverblad, Vaart z.z. 95, Appelscha, We are both somewhat challenged getting about but not wheelchair cases - I have to use a stick and won't be breaking any speed records!
I presume that trying to get from the airport direct to the hotel would be difficult and expensive. Any advice on the best way to get from the airport to Assen will be very helpful as I don't know whether train or bus is the way to go.
We will also need to get to the TT Circuit each day and I've jsut found out that there won't be a shuttle bus running, as it does for some events but I'm hoping that it won't cost an arm and a leg to get a taxi to the circuit, or is there a bus that goes there as well? I feel that is probably too much to hope for.
Looking for advice re buying bus tickets in advance. Travelling from Groningen to Assen Friday 19 September. Staying at Vaart z.z. 95, Appelscha, 8426 AJ. I have very little idea where that is in relation to Assen but I think there is a bus route to there, from assen, possibly the number 15. Though I might change the hotel booking if I can find something nearer that won't cost too much. We are travelling to TT Cirucit at Assen to watch the British Superbikes event 19-21 September 2014. A special birthday present for my son, for his 40th Birthday.
Does anyone know if it's possible to buy Bus tickets or passes, or whatever they may be called, for a number of days, trips? I don't speak Dutch I'm afraid. A teeny weeny bit of French but other than that it's pretty much English only and although I know many Dutch people do speak English, putting many of us to shame, I am not going to assume that everyone can.
Any help will be very gratefully received.
This follows from a previous question, which I've had help with, thanks to this great forum. My son and a friend are travelling to Assen to see the British Superbikes racing in September. Probably looking at hotel or B&B to stay in but I just want a bit of info re getting taxis in and around Assen. The main hotels are too expensive but others may be further away from either the circuit or assen itself. A forum member has told us about the shuttle bus that will be running from Assen to the circuit but is it feasible to get taxis quite easily, either to the circuit or to Assen? Without it costing too much as well, I hope.
They are flying into Groningen and will go from there to whichever place they are going to stay in, possibly via Assen, depending on where they end up staying.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
We are loooking at travel options from southern U.K. to the Assen T.T. circuit, for the September race weekend featuring British Superbikes. I'm trying to arrange this for my son as a 40th Birthday present. I've looked at goinf by car using the ferry from Harwich to The Hook of Holland but it's a bit pricey and Harwich is quite a drive from here. If there is a way of going without having to travel by car but able to take camping gear, then might be a better option and no need to worry about a car breaking down etc., Would consider going by air, in camping stuff can go too, then by train or hire car maybe. Any advice on what would be feasible will be very gratefully received. My son can be significantly disabled by severe spinal problems and pain, so I'm trying to find the easiest and most sensible options for him, especially as he hasn't been able to have any kind of holiday for well over 10 years. I will ask about staying in a hotel if that seems a better idea, as long as it would be easy to get to and from the circuit.
Any help and suggestions, as I said before, will be gratefully received.

How can I get by train from Koeln to Assen
I see from the forum that there is easy transportation from the city of Assen to the TT Circuit. It's about 4 euros from the train station there - anyone know the frequency in which the train/bus leaves the station e.g., every 1/2 hour or what? How 'bout transportation from the circuit back to the city?

After thinking i'll be moving to Aberdeen, my company decided to send me to Assen for 8 months I visited Amesterdam about 10 years ago and haven't been to the Netherlands since- this is also my first time working as an expat Any tips will be extremely helpful, but the ones i can think of so far are: 1. A colleague at work recommended living in Groningen and commuting to Assen for work- what is the distance? and is the public transportation good? 2. What are the reasonable rates for accomodation (I'm single) in both Assen and in Groningen? where are the better places to live in both (safety, close to shops/town, close to public transport, etc)? 3. Do i need to learn Dutch? 4. I can't live without the internet :-) - what are the best internet service providers?
