How can I get there?  (1 Answer)

In the past eight months, I have had TWO trips planned (itinerary, reservations, et al.) to Angola but both had to be cancelled because I did not receive the "required invitations" in time to get a visa. Do any of you have any tips on how to get those invitation letters in a timely manner, or how to get a visa without invitations?
Thanks!!!

Invitation to travel to angola  (2 Answers)

Hello
We are a Belgian couple travelling through Africa with a truck. Our truck is now in Ghana and we intend to take a boat from Lomé (Togo) to Luanda.
We plan to arrive in Luanda on 21 October 2009. We need an invitation. Could a member from angola send us the required invitation by e-mail in order to obtain visa from the Angolian consulate in Belgium.
We are now in Belgium and are flying to Ghana on 1 September.
We would be very grateful to receive the invitation urgently.
Thanks in advance.

Visa difficulty?  (3 Answers)

From everything I have read in the newspapers, on other forums, and two travel magazines, getting a visa for Angola had become a very hit and miss situation. Any recent travelers to Angola and what problems/delays were encountered, if any?

Questions about the current situation in Bengo  (1 Answer)

Hello I will be spending over two weeks in Bengo (based in Caxita) and I would love to hear about the current situation there: is it safe? how is the food? what to eat and what to avoid (to avoid upsetting stomach)? is malaria widespread over there? are there many mosquitos/dangerous flies etc? what is worth seeing there? Are there big temperature changes from day to night? I would really appreciate any advice from people who live or recently travelled there. Many thanks in advance.

How to get to Luanda?  (1 Answer)

I will be in Johannesburg the first part of March, but my real destination is Luanda. Airfare is absurd, plus i'm not sure how long i will be staying. Probably more than six months, and i'm sure i might be asked to show a return ticket, which would be difficult or impossible to change later. Any chance of there being bus or rail travel from a neighboring country? Cheers, Mike

I may be moving to Luanda, Angola for work soon. Although I'll be housed in a fully-furnished accommodation, are there any nifty items that I should bring along with me that are not available in Luanda?

coming soon  (2 Answers)

Dear all,

I'll be soon coming to live in Angola (Luanda), and, honestly, my knowledge of the place is very poor, apart for some historical/social/economical info.

I would like to understand how it is the life there. Is it safe? can I take my girlfriend with me? what can we do after work? well...any info is welcome, as I am a bit worried about this.
thanks
OC

Whore for cash, and happy wife.

Travels take me to this (some say) God-forsaken part of Africa. My question is are there any things in reference to transportation and getting around that I should be careful of besides cab ridding and car rentals? How bad is it? Boss is saying it is not bad at all. He says it's one of the nicest parts of the country. Is he right? Experienced? Help!!

Chris

Looking for accomodation

Hi all,

I´m going to live to Luanda in a few days and I´d like to find a flat. It will be nice if it´s close to Rua Jaime Cortesao. I don´t mind to share it or if it´s single rent it alone.

If you have any information, please, contact me on my email address [email].

Thanks a lot.

Trip Namibia & Angola  (1 Answer)

I'm planning to make a combination trip to Namibia and Angola by rental car this summer (2005). Some recources say it's unwise and some say it's fairly okay. Has anyone been in this region lately (southern Angola). How is the situation there, can we travel without to much hassle? And is it possible to cross the border between Nambia and Angola with a rental car?

Living and teaching in Luanda  (2 Answers)

Hello, I am considering pursuing a teaching post at Luanda International School. Viewing the school's website it looks fantastic. What is life like for expats in Luanda? Can I purchase oatmeal (i.e. rolled oats), chickpeas or garbanzo beans in a can or dry, and carrots? What is the weather like, aside from hot? Is it very humid? Would I be able to easily establish a social life outside of school? Is it safe for single female visible foreigners? Thanks so much!
