Stubbe's Haring

I read on a website that Stubbe's Haring has closed. Did it close or did it move to another location?
I really look forward to eating herring in Amsterdam.
Thanks.

Hello,

VT member pieter_j_van (known as PJ) is the Tip Grouper for Amsterdam on VT. I always find his own information on VT to be as current as possible (he updates regularly.)
Here's a link by PJ to his favourite Herring Stalls in Amsterdam. One of them is Stubbe's Haring.

[original VT link]

I'm sure PJ will see your question and be able to give you the correct information. Do come back and check for further replies. :-)

My own research led me to many comments about Stubbe's Haring, all of them said that it is NOT closed. Someone said repair work was done some time ago on the bridge where Stubbe's is, which may have led to their closing the Stand temporarily. All is said to be back to normal now.
Stubbe's Haring is on Facebook. I am not so could not access its Facebook page. If you are, you could check it out.

Otherwise you could try other great suggestions for Herring Stands by PJ.
Good luck and enjoy! I had raw herring, even got my friend to try it, it was delicious! A good experience. Can't remember exactly where... but there are lots of Stands.

Have no idea about Amsterdam, but the best haring I did eat was in Den Haag at Binenhof ukka.co/The-Hague--South-Hol... and in Simonis restaurent at the Vissershafen (fishing port) ukka.co/The-Hague--South-Hol... . Highly recommend!

Hi [VT member fa3e0], there are so many good herring stalls in Amsterdam! One of the best is Vlaardingse Haringhandel at the Albert Cuypmarket. There is a good stall at the Bilderdijkstraat: haringkar Schilder. The herring stall on Overtoomse Sluis is very good as well, its name is Kees Tol. At the Viscenter Volendam in Kinkerstraat they also have good herring. I hope these answer will help you?

That's all very interesting...but is Stubbe's Haring open (it is my favourite too)? From your username I assume you live in Amsterdam?

I am not sure, yes I do live in Amsterdam. I will have a look when I drive by and let you know.

Sitting in Thailand it's hard to get the closure confirmed.

I only read that the one at the Rijksmuseum was closed due to illness of its owner.

Don't worry, there are others stalls in the center.

Would like to read if Stubbe is still open.

PJ

Thanks [VT member 1a6798]! I'm sure this information will please many of us.

I realize that the choice of Haring Stands is great in Amsterdam... but once we hear or read about a special place, we are often keen on finding it. :-)

May I ask if you actually saw Stubbe's Haring opened? Just curious, for my next visit to Amsterdam (soon I hope!) Cheers!

Thanks to all for your info and a special thanks to Amsterdamguide for driving by and making sure it was opened. I will definitely go to Stubbe's and probably will try another -- just to compare.
