My wife and I are spending 10 days in the Algarve area next April. We fly in and out of Faro and will be picking up and dropping off our hire car in that location. I'm thinking of staying in three or four different locations and would like to do a circular tour in our hire car. It seems sensible to take in Seville. Any ideas for towns where a couple of nights would be a pleasant experience? Our interests are history, culture and moderate walking. Phil C
does anybody know how to catch a proximo bus to get to the busstation.
shall leave for the airport
We would like to holiday in the Algarve in 2017 and would appreciate some help. We are looking for a resort that is not overly busy and without the night clubs etc, but has some shops that you can stroll around of an evening. If anyone has been to Es Cana in Ibiza somewhere sililar would be great. We are looking for an all inclusive hotel. Does anyone know of any and can recommend to save hours of trawling the net and travel brouchers? Many thanks in advance for any help . Gareth & Family
Hi! Is there an official website with info about the buses around Algarve or should I trust this one?
I am worried that if it isn't correct and we miss our bus to Faro, there is no alternate transportation from Armacao de Pera. Also, after our boat trip from there, we want to get to Praia da Marinha, can we get a taxi to there and would it be expensive? Can you reccommend a company I can use with a safe mind? In general, transportation without a car seems kinda complicated....
Me and My partner are looking for a nice, all day boattrip with not too many people for this thursday. Anyone knows something nog too touristic?
Hi, I just read about heavy rains in Southern Portugal (The Portugal’s National Civil Protection Authority (ANPC) said historically vulnerable areas - such as Lisbon, Faro and Albufeira - could flood again because of the amount of rain expected).
I am travelling to Lisbon and Algarve in a few days – how bad is the flooding? Thanks!
Hi all, we want to take 2 days of surfing lessons (complete beginners) next week. Still have not decided where to do it, Lagos and Portimao – any advice? (how long is the drive to the beaches, how are wave conditions for beginners, and quality of surf schools)
Hi, I am planning to travel around Algarve at the end of May, still not sure where exactly. Do I have to reserve accomodation in advance, or can I do it from there? Is there good wifi? Thanks!
Thinking of visiting the Algarve later this year. We love to do naturist walks along the beaches, cliff tops. Can suggestions be made of the best places, please.
Next month I'll be going to Albufeira with my dad for a week, but we kind of rushed the booking. Having looked at it properly, I'm now worried it won't be suitable with all its nightclubs, bars and English pubs as we want to experience a bit of the Portuguese culture (whilst also enjoying some sun and the beach), not the Portuguese version of Magaluf or Benidorm. I hope I'm wrong though! Please help!
My fiance and I are considering Algarve, Portugal for our Honeymoon. We are looking for a good base to take day trips and something less touristy (i understand most of the region will be filled with tourist in late june / early july) but perfer a good mix of culture, good food and wine, easy beach access and relaxation. We are flying into Lisbon and will head down to the Algarve after a couple of days. Any feedback will be much appreciated.
Hi, I'm looking for some advice for summer holiday in July/Aug in some Algarve part. As a destination, I prefer smaller cities I'm interested to stay with my family (2 adults+2 kids: 3y, 8y) in hotel/resort/bungalows/villas village but not camping. I don't like hotel blocks so the best would be low buildings max 2 floors.
BU 3000 Euro for 2 weeks, 1 apartment (2 bedrooms or 1 bedroom and separate room with sofa) with kitchen.
My expectations: location next to or no to far from the beach, outdoor pools (incl. separate for small kids), best location would be in some garden or green area, playground for kids, sports facilities like football field for kids, free car parking, access to Wi-Fi.
Any suggestion much appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Rafal

Hi! we are two guys from Italy and this summer we'll be in Portugal on holiday. After visiting Lisbon we'd like to go to Algarve, but we haven't decided the place yet. Can you give me some advices? I read about Albufeira, Lagos and Faro, but I don't know what's the best. We are looking for beautiful beaches but also a place to have fun at night, and we are moving by train and buses, so we need a place not so difficult to reach.
Thanks a lot.

Hi All ,
Was not sure whether to post this question in this forum or the canary islands forum.
We live in london and were looking for a holoday in March 1st week for a week to a sunny area of europe . We are a couple in early 30s. We are confused between algarve and canary islands as both seem beautiful and less colder than london.
We are looking for a relaxing holiday : beautiful beaches, natural scenery, good vegetarian food and fun things to do like para gliding , snorkelling , biking and beautiful walks etc. We are not very party types and like our own time rather than partying in pubs and clubs .
Based on our expectation which place will you suggest - algarve or canary islands and where in the suggested places as both seem to be huge .
Cost of an average meal in good restuarant in Salema Portugal
I will be in Praia de Rocha for 2 weeks in August. I am returning home before the rest of my group so will be travelling to the airport myself & I am looking for the cheapest option - Is the public bus service reliable? how long would it take / how much? What would be my best option?
Thanks in advance.
My wife and I would like one of those "typical" whitewashed little buildings in a smaller fishing village for a couple of weeks in May/June 2013. Golf will be a major focus of the trip and we plan to rent a car for that but would like a place with a quieter and more authentic feel than a mega resort/golf course. We'd also like a place with a restaurant/bar or three close enough to not have to drive to (or more accurately from!). We're coming from the US but she also carries a NL passport. We can book from either.
Anyone steer me in the right direction?
I miss bacon and sausage when am away and was wondering if i can bring it from the uk
staying in a villa so breakfast would be good
will eat out at night to sample the local food
I have three days to spend in Algarve and Southern Portugal and am looking for VTer recommendations as to interesting historical places to visit with great architecture as part of a three week trip to Spain. I will have a car for this portion of the trip.
Is it better I book my hotel in Albufeira or Lagos if I am going to visit Monchique; by public bus?
How long would the journey takes to travel from Albufeira or Lagos to Monchique?
Just anticipating your questions, many will know this already.
Just a little warning for those of you thinking of popping over from Spain, or heading for Faro Airport, that tolls on the A22 Algarve motorway come into effect this Thursday 8th December.
Residents and/or owners of Portuguese registered cars will need either the electronic pass or trail to the post office within 5 working days and pay the tolls like good people.
Owners of Spanish registered cars (in fact any foreign registered car) using the A22 towards Faro airport etc will need to obtain a temporary 'visitor pass'. There is NO OPTION TO PAY ON THE MOTORWAY IN CASH OR BY CREDIT CARD. In bold and double underlined. There no toll booths. The passes, it is alleged, can be obtained at the border crossing, at the Olhão service area and at the post office in the airport. (Posts offices in the Algarve also sell the passes or so it is said. But they are closed on Thursday, which is a public holiday.)
All is explained in English here.
The official website with information in English, Spanish and Portuguese is
Charges work out at about 7 cents per kilometre for an ordinary car.
Have a nice day.
We are staying in Armacao de Pera (ADP) from 24/09/11 to 08/10/11, however we are spending a few days in Lisbon. Our train departs from Albufeira Ferreiras station at 0728 am on Tuesday 4/10/11. So, is it feasable to get a bus or train from ADP that would get us to Albufeira on time? I would have thought that connections to Albufeira would be quite regular but I am having some difficulty trying to get reliable information.
Outside of Costa Vicentina and Ria Formosa, can you point me to some other great spots for bird-watching in the Algarve?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
