A friend and I are in the planning stages an eight day Alaska vacation June 19th-27th. (for her 50th birthday-1st time to Alaska for both of us) Not sure what cities to visit. We were thinking of flying into Juneau for a few days and then going ziplining at Icy Strait Point (anyone know best way to get from Juneau to Icy Strait point), take a whale watching cruise (any ideas on best one)and then take a helicopter tour and go treking on the Mendenhall glacier with Northstar Trekking (any good?). We would then fly into Anchorage where we would drive into Seward or Whittier and do some sort of glacier day cruise. (anyone know the best cruise to take whe highest probability to see a glacier calving up close) Then we'd take the train (is it worth it to pay more for Goldstar service on dome train) from Anchorage to Denali and stay overnight a couple of nights and do either the bus tour or a flighseeing tour of Mt. McKinley and some othe kind of adventure (any suggestions)
We love viewing wildlife, riding on fast moving river boats(not rafts-needs an engine), flightseeing, glacier viewing/hiking on, ziplining.
Any suggestions on possible iteneries would be GREATLY appreciated. I think I'm probably trying to cover too much ground in one trip but not sure where to focus.
Am also considering buying the Toursaver 2/1 coupon book. Is it worth it?
Thanks again for any advice
