First time in Vietnam, where to go?

We're 4 students visiting Vietnam for our first time, and thought we would reach out to this community. Basically, we want to relax and be somewhere by the beach - catch up on some surfing, kiting and so on. We are staying for 7 nights and would really like some input on the best places to go. We are looking into Ho Chi Minh City and Mui Ne, but open to other places. Thanks!

    Hi Martin,

Ho Chi Minh is a good place to start - although it is interesting, it isn't that relaxing. You can head to Da Nang and China Beach for some surfing. Hoi An to the south of Da Nang is an interesting city to visit, with great food.

Mui Ne is probably quieter than Da Nang is offers both kite-surfing and surfing.

There is also Bãi Dài which is 25 km south of Nha Trang.

    Have a great time!

    David.

From what I see here Mui Ne is the right place to go.

Mabye not as many bars as in Nha Trang but the vibe in Mui Ne is younger and the place is less dominated by package tourism.

I don't think Ho Chi Minh has much things to do and see with beach. If you want to do sea beach activity, make your way to Vung Tau city or Hue and Hoi An.

If you visit Hue, you can both explore the history of Viet Nam in Nguyen Dynasty and have beach dreams with Lang Co beach which is about 15 km away from the Hue Center.

Or you can also get to Da Nang city that has several beaches as Pham Van Dong beach. Then, head to Hoi An and enjoy a romantic view in the old quarter.

This is my itinerary in Hoi An and Da Nang, you can give it a view:

    3 days in Da Nang

    4 days in Hoi An

Good luck and have a nice trip!
