Fall foliage trip

Taking my wife on a fall trip for our anniversary, we are starting in Boston, hitting Kennebunkport, Portland, Mt. Washington, Stowe, Manchester VT, and back to Boston. I am looking for ideas of restaurants, waterfalls, attractions and best places to see the colors. We are leaving Sept 29- oct 4.

Lots of ski resorts will offer scenic chairlift/gondola rides to get the best views. Lift tickets range from $0 to approximately $10. Stowe Mountain Resort has a lodge at the summit - great for lunch!

I would recommend staying at the Stowe Mountain Lodge and Mount Washington Resort. Two totally different, wonderful experiences - luxe to historic.

    Restaurants...

Portland: Street & Co But the whole area is full of culinary gold. You can't go wrong.

Stowe: The Whip Bar & Grill. Cafe On Main.

Manchester: Ye Olde Tavern is the oldest bar in Vermont. A must hit.

And just because you're going on the most epic leaf peeping excursion ever... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSKGprAzk9U

    Enjoy your trip!

I would recommend stopping in the town of North Conway (near Mt. Washington). It's a wonderful place to experience the fall colors! You can drive to the top of Cathedral Ledge Rd to look out over the entire valley. Then you can do the easy walk into Diana's Baths to see beautiful waterfalls. The Kancamagus Hwy winds through the White Mountains and is one of the top foliage drives in the region. There are waterfalls and pull offs along the way to stop and take pictures. Have fun!

North Conway is a great little town! While you're there, check out Cranmore Mountain's haunted walk. They put it on every year leading up to Halloween. It's WILD. http://www.cranmore.com/ghoullog/ · (0 likelikes)
