Best hotel in or near downtown Vancouver?

I'll be visiting Vancouver on an upcoming business trip and need to be downtown, so does anyone have any good suggestions for hotels in or near that area?  Something in the mid-range price would be great!

A favorite recommendation for me would be the Sylvia Hotel on Beach Ave, right at English Bay. Very large suites in a recently reno'd heritage building, most with ocean views. Steps away from Stanley Park and the sea wall yet within easy walking distance of downtown business district.

Great suggestion, Marilou! Just FYI, I'm a community manager here and I helped you geo-tag the hotel (In the future, you can do this yourself as you answer a question by simply typing the @-symbol followed by the name of the place) and fix the typo (which you can do by clicking "Edit" above your answer) :) · (1 likelikes)

I'm a big fan of The Westin Grand, Vancouver. It's in a great location close to Gastown and Yaletown and within easy walking distance to everything "downtown".

If you are a fan of boutique hotels check out Moda Hotel or OPUS Vancouver are both lovely and have great restaurants/bars downstairs.

Be sure to pack your sneakers for a run along the seawall!

just returned from a weekend trip to BC. My wife got a great deal on the The Fairmont Waterfront Hotel. very nice with a great view. Walking distance to many restaurants, or so I saw. We have kids, so ended up at Tim Horton's a few times.

There is a great hotel right downtown called Victorian Hotel. Great value for the location. It is an older hotel with original hard wood floors and high ceilings, also comes with a nice simple breakfast. You can walk everywhere and there are tons of great restaurants within walking distance, including one under the hotel.

    A few suggestions:

OPUS Vancouver- Lovely boutique hotel, situated in trendy Yaletown. Easy access to delicious eats and the Sky Train. You'll be treated well by friendly staff.
    OPUS Vancouver

Fairmont Pacific Rim- Adjacent to the convention center and Coal harbour, this chic hotel has amazing views and a luxury spa. The bar is a groovy spot to have a cocktail before dinner. Popular with locals as well.

    Fairmont Pacific Rim

Wedgewood Hotel & SpaIf you like old world charm in a hotel, this is the place to stay. The architecture and decor will make you feel like you've landed in a European chalet. Some of the best shopping in Vancouver is just 2 blocks away.

We stayed at L'Hermitage Vancouver when we were there in March. It was right in the middle of things and lovely. We like boutique-y, quiet hotels in the middle of the city, and this fit the bill. Have a great trip!

There are several areas in downtown so it depends where you want to be.

If you want to be in Coal Harbour near Stanley Park, the Loden Hotel is fantastic and the restaurant downstairs Tableau Bar Bistro - Vancouver is fantastic.

OPUS Vancouver in Yaletown is nice, La Pentola della Quercia is great food.

I like The Listel Hotel on Robson if you want to be near amenities. Forage is farm to table and delicious.

Fairmont hotels are always great! I love the Fairmont Pacific Rim. It's a bit of a party scene at night, just a warning.

    Happy Travels!
