Top places to see on a 1-2 day visit?

I'm going to Tallinn for 1 or 2 days next week and am looking for recommendations on stuff to see... not necessarily the 'touristy' spots, I don't feel like spending a lot on another castle/palace/museum. I'd love to see places where the locals go, eat, relax.

I hope is not too late and I'm still on time to give you some tips.

I lived in Tallinn for few months some years ago and I like it so much. I think you don't need any suggestions, just walk and don't be afraid to get lost in the street of the old town.

These are some of my favourite place:
    - the backyard of Tallinna Linnateater in Aida street
    - the view from Toompea in Patkuli Vaateplatvorm
    - relaxing at Kadrioru Park (and eat something bio at NOP in Köleri 1)
    - have something sweet at Chocolaterie de Pierre especially if you cannot enjoy the weather outside.
    - if you like clubbing don't miss Von Krahl, but before check out the performance (especially the musical genre)

If you would like to know something more, just ask me ;-)

There is an old shut down prison/fortress in Tallinn that you can go walk through. It is really interesting. Patarei Vangla. You can find more information here

Go to region called Kalamaja - kind of hipster neighbourhood with good restraunts and bars :) Try for example cafe Sesoon Kalamaja Kohvik, bar TOPS and in Telliskivi Loomelinnak different events, as well as restraunts Lendav Taldrik & F-Hoone.

Oh, I really want to visit Tallinn! Sounds like there's lots to do! By the way, I'm a community manager here and I've helped you highlight the places in your answer on a map! In the future, you can do this yourself as you answer a question by simply typing the @-symbol followed by the name of the place. Take a look at your map next to your answer :) · (0 likelikes)

Tallinn really is not about the museums - there are precious few of the "must sees". I would suggest engaging with the locals through events or meet ups. A good way to find something odd to do is at the Everaround site. .
