Hip hotels in Sydney?

Where is a popular and fun place to stay in Sydney?  I'm traveling this upcoming spring and wouldn't mind splurging on a hotel if it's worth it.  Looking forward to your suggestions!

We just stayed at the Mantra and it was very convenient to access the town; right next to a very cool bar (Establishment); very safe and clean rooms · (0 likelikes)

Check out BLUE Sydney (http://www.tajhotels.com/Luxury/City-Hotels/Blue-Sydney/Overview.html) which used to be the W Sydney.

It's definitely "hip" and if I recall correctly has really cool loft rooms. It's situated at Woolloomooloo wharf where Russell Crowe has his penthouse apartment !

also I forgot to tell you that on weekends, they block off the street where the Mercantile hotel is, and have a farmer`s market and clothing, jewelry, and other things for sale. All under the shadow of the Sydney Harbour Bridge!!! · (0 likelikes)

If your budget can stand it, stay on Concierge level at InterContinental Sydney. Reaturant, rooms but the view is the best of Sydney. Their top level is the size of a hotel floor with glass surround and balconies. Yum!

Actually in the city, I'd suggest Fraser Suites Sydney which is pretty cool. It also has the advantage that the soundproofing is good - not to be underestimated anywhere in Sydney where the traffic noise can be fairly constant. There are a few cool places in the inner-suburbs, particular The Kirketon and Medusa Hotel - I've not stayed in either of the last two so can't vouch for the sleep quality but they're certainly in a great spot. If you're a view junkie, then the Park Hyatt Sydney is the way to go. It's the most expensive of the options I've listed here.

The brand new The Old Clare Hotelin Chippendale on the very southern edge of the CBD is a great option if it fits your budget. The once an old pub and brewery is now a 62 room boutique hotel that is more is surrounded by great eating spots and some very funky architecture.

Right, next door is Spice Alley and Koi Dessert Bar both delicious and affordable. If you want to splurge you can try Kensington St Social Chippendale, You can walk to the centre of the city in about 20-30 mins or 5 mins by train. Transport is just a couple of minutes walk, and there are plenty of shops and cafes at the door. Spice Alley

A couple of my favourite are:

Park Hyatt Sydney is pretty popular. You have a great view of the Opera House, and you're next to some pretty great night life, on the harbour. If you're looking for good location and some great views of the harbour, this is it.

Hotel Creek Road is also a pretty fun place. They designed it pretty cool, so it's great for taking pictures. Also has great location, located to the harbour, shopping, etc.

I'd suggest looking around the internet, there are a ton of options. You can find good local deals on Wejbet which is a popular booking tool used in Australia.

Pier One Sydney Harbour, Autograph Collection® Best location on the Sydney waterfront within walking distance to Australia's most popular attractions like the Opera House and the historic Rocks district. Don't miss dining at their new restaurant The Gantry Restaurant & Bar. The cuisine and the cocktails are all about farm-fresh / foraged ingredients so most of what's on your plate and in your cup comes from native, botanical and homemade ingredients.
